I am selling my 73 out here in California and that means no smog out here. This truck I purchased from original owner. He is a doctor and he told me it saw little off road use and he put new brakes and exhaust on it before engine blew. Paint is ok has lumber rack and everything is stock with 350 motor and automatic and 205 transfer case. This vehicle has rust in its spots but not swiss cheese any thought what this truck might be worth? I was asking 1000 or obo one offer for 700.
Any help would be appreciated.

Long or short bed? fleetside or stepside? 1/2, 3/4, or 1 ton? Does the 4wd all function properly? How "blown" is the engine? Block still ok?

I know CA prices are inflated, but seems like you could probably find a RUNNING 1/2 ton "work truck" for $1000, so unless it's got something else going for it (like 3/4 ton or some rare options) that's probably kinda high for a truck with a blown engine. Assuming it's a "plain jane" slightly rusty 1/2 ton, you might want to consider that $700 offer, IMHO.

If it's a SB or 3/4 ton, you can just drop it off at my house, and we'll work out a price.:D
Also important, what trans does it have in it, th350 or th400?

bad time of year and economy to be selling anything really and get a decent return out of it. if you have had it for sale for some time and thats the only offer, and you need to get rid of it, well take the offer.

I paid 500 bux for my running 74 k20 w/ some little rust, but no holes. Numbers matching w/ 110,000 original miles, still ran on leaded gas.

Id take the 700bux offer, this economy just stinks right now and the new buyer has to have it towed on top of the price. 1k is just too much for a non runner, IMO.

Yea I know not the best year or time to sell. It is a 3/4 ton and has a 205 transfer case in it. 350 on the hydromatic and it does have some rust, fenders bed, cab under bottom of windshield.

Thanks guys for the help I am going with the 700 I know this may sound crazy on a chevy web site but I am taking the money and buying a 93 Dodge 3/4 ton with 360 motor 4x4 with 5 spd manual nv4500 with 4.10 gears smogs great and runs strong it is multi port injected for 1500.00 Plus the ac works good.

:doah:Dude, WTF? Well, you better hope the gas stays cheap, cuz those 5.9 gas Dodges are thirsty AND gutless.:haha: Good luck with it anyway. I still like those trucks, too.

I have a 78 dodge 360 and it did ok this one being fuel injected and computer controlled should do better. Power wise it seems good. Now if you know something about them I don;t know like this problem that problem etc please let me know. This is a one owner truck and it saw light duty work. If I buy a Chevy fuel injected 4x4 I get the weak independent suspension front end this 93 is based off old school 4x4 from the seventies.

Thanks for any insight

Most of the gutless feeling was really from Dodge putting too tall of a gear in most of them. A lot of the 3/4tons actually had 3.50:1 gears. It should do well with 4.10s. I used to be a mechanic for a Chrysler dealer, so I do know a little about them. About the only things that come to mind are intake manifold gasket leaks(oil) and coil failures. Idle/surge problems came up a lot, but it was just from the throttle body getting dirty. They're a pretty darn good truck all around.:waytogo:

Thanks for the info I will copy your reply and keep it so if a problem occurs I will look at your list. Thanks for your insight. Any good websites on the web that deal with diagnosis on these dodges?

Yeah, but the name escapes me at the momemt. A couple guys at work are on a Dodge-specific site that they really like. I'll try to remember to ask tonight.:D

brett, if you get the dodge and need something im also a chrysler tech. ive got an 88 w/ a 318 and its completely gutless. first year for fuel injection.. the body is clean and it has low miles. i just replaced the vapor vacuum harness because the hoses were hard, brittle, and cracked so i replaced it and im hoping it runs better. i replaced the coil and the map sensor as well and it seemed to run better but it still won't pull hills faster than 15. fuel pressure is right at what it should be and i put new fuel lines on it.

Thanks guys for willing to help I know sometimes these computer cars can really be a pain even if you have all the knowledge and testing equipment. I have been down that road. Wow this one even passed on the new fuel tank vacuum test. Anyway my good friend says it pulls like a mother in third gear. I can't wait to get it and test it out.

Brett

Yeah, when I asked the guys at work, they gave me a Cummins-specific site, rather than a general Dodge site. Sorry.:doah:
