AL 1973 K5 Blazer $9500!

Motor size, what trans and transfer case will be helpful too.
350 V8, originally had the SM465 4 speed manual, but PO swapped that out for what I believe it a TH-35o automatic. Im not exactly sure what kind of transfer case it has, as when I bought it from the PO, he just described it as "two transfer cases bolted together" but never gave me a model name, but it is a 3-stick transfer case.

That's an important detail

Probably a 203/205 doubler with the 205 twin sticked

Hey guys so its come time that I need to sell my blazer :( Its been a great truck to me and Ive had it on craigslist for a while with no luck so i thought id try on here and maybe I can get it sold! Heres the craigslist ad and if anyone needs additional information feel free to ask!
http://huntsville.craigslist.org/cto/5507153031.html
Am I asking too much? I figured that would be a good starting price but any opinions on what the price should be are welcome!

I don't know what prices are like in your area but around here a truck like that takes a LONG time to sell.

In my neck of the woods that truck is 6k tops.

Your description should focus more on the guts if the truck. I think most guys looking at trucks in that price range built like that could care less about your stereo. Maybe some off road shots of it flexing.

Right now the add ( to me) says 73 Blazer full vert lifted with a stereo.

Needs to say hi pinion front 60, full floating 14 bolt, 203/205 doubler.

Like I said prices vary widely but around here you can get some seriously nice rigs for 10k.

this is good info, I feel the ad is missing some key features. Adding keywords like dana 60, triple stick, doubler etc. will attract a different buyer.

Some other details are left out such as gear ratio, open or locked diffs, crossover? figure out what transmission and t-cases it has.

Price wise I think it's listed high but again I don't see all the details...

I offer the following as honest and hopefully helpful criticism (because I think that's what you're asking for).

  • A '73 is only really collectable in stock form.
  • It's not a crawler by virtue of the 9-10" lift. It's also not really set up like a bogger (e.g.: doubler & cage)...so while it has some nice parts it's not truly a purpose-built truck.
  • It's got a Harbor Freight winch, crunched fender, and the interior is pretty rough aside from the Line-X.
  • A $9k truck shouldn't need AC work (or any work, really).
That truck, in my most humble opinion, looks like a very fun toy in the $4-$5k range, but not collectable or directly ready for truly serious offroading.

Well for a while now Ive been thinking of getting that body lift out of there and changing the tires to a radial as opposed to bias ply. The bias have their advantages off road, but just aren't for everyone, so thats why i was wondering if I made those changes and brought it back down a little if that would help with the pricing?

I think it would be most important to pick one purpose/build path and stick to it (or have done so previously). I guess the question is what you need to get out of it financially - if the answer is in the ballpark of $9k, you're likely going to have to put time, effort, and more money into it (but then you're dipping into your $9k). Or sit on the ad and you may get lucky if you're not in a hurry.

If you can settle for less then you don't have to invest any more time/effort/cash into it, and the next owner can choose their own path for it.

Realize the guys on here are not the norm.

We can see past dents and not nice paint to the guts of the truck. We also can fix most anything.

For the average I wanna a bad ass truck buying crowd that's not the case.

IMHO your truck is a little too beat up for that crowd.

You really need to find some other modified trucks in your area and base your price off of those. Unfortunately this can take time.

I recently looked at a K5 online that was nice. No dents, very clean interior, one ton axles, arb lockers, doubler, nice bumpers, had nearly new 39.5s on it. This thing was a head turner and he claimed it ran awesome.

He wanted 10500 for it.

Im not trying to be a dick but I just don't see your truck selling for 9500.
