Want to replace/upgrade to the best rear drum brakes for a sotck 1973 K5. Any recommendations on where to get the parts from anyone who has DIY rear drums and shoes?

I have not done drum brakes in probalby 30 years so I will be rusty! Plan to replace all the parts with new.

Thanks

JW, I see you are in Kingwood. I'm in the Atascocita area.

I just restored my back drum brakes on a 74 Jimmy. As I was making a large order and getting free shipping I bought everything needed for the drums from LMC. Honestly, the quality of the parts are perfectly fine.

With that said, I didn't upgrade anything. I simply went back stock.

Page 2 of my Build Thread shows the rears.

Bad spelling... But Akebono pads are GREAT..... Have them on all my vehicles...

Stop great + they are easy on the discs...

Can't say if Brembo makes drums, but their discs are A-1.

Texarback, Checked out your build thread would love to tear it all the way down someday like that. I have new front fenders and hood from LMC new door shells I have not gotten to yet. Have been welding and pathcing rear quarters lately. Installed roll bar, built a bimini top from a jeep one, built what I call a "bimini hard top" from an old beat up top from a 1975 as well, replaced tailgate with truck gate and built rear hinged hatch for the full top. Picked up some old custom bumpers off a k20 and modified them a bit to fit. Built a swing away rear tire holder as well. I have a worn out 305 from the the 80's in it now smokes alittle but gets me around. Mine is a driver I get around Kingoowd in it on the weekends.
Needs a new 350 and a small lift.

Nice looking truck. Had mine been that clean I probably wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing.
