A big rock
I was helping out my brother with his ford f250 powerchoke the other day when I spotted this bike sitting under a big cedar tree on the property, just rotting away with no one looking at it twice. I asked him what the deal is and he said our other friend had just ditched it there after buying it years ago and hasn’t touched it since. I quickly realized it has a seized engine, or something of the like. Kick lever wouldn’t move and the bike wouldn’t roll forward or backwards in gear either. I looked at the odometer and saw it only has 1600 miles on it and it’s complete, so without a second of doubt I said I’d take it and my brother told me to get it out of his yard.

I got it home and haven’t had any luck getting it to turn over but I have gotten the kick pedal to move a bit more than seized solid, and I poured some trans fluid and sea foam in the spark plug port. I pulled the dipstick on the gearbox and nothing, filled it up and it was on the floor as fast as I filled it up. Not sure if the case is cracked or just a bad gasket but I’m assuming it’s the case gasket that has rotted out. I spoke with my brothers friend and he said it’s been seized since he got it a couple years back.

I’ve now been trying to source parts and the tear down has started. I have started to look for replacement pistons and hopefully the cylinder bore is okay. I’m sure it’ll need close to a full rebuild but so far the magneto looks good and I’m hoping it’s just a new piston and seals.

I haven’t had any time to be on this site lately with my new business, and my son getting close to 3 years old now… but apparently this bikes from Colorado so I thought someone might have some info on these stickers. I don’t have any papers for this thing yet but I’m working on it. It would make a great ripper to take to the general store/beach.. I’d love to give it to Wyatt. He’s got 12 years left until he can ride it, and that’s probably how long it’ll take me to get around to it.. so that works out!

Found this cool old tool kit in a little compartment on the frame. Not sure if this was put on all models or just this one but cool to see this bike is 100% complete and barely used. Also not sure if this was potentially a forestry service bike or the muffler just states that. Also strange one of the box wrenches in the little kit is welded back together but he bikes barely ridden and nothing seems damaged at all.. I’d love to go back 50 years and see its timeline…

Tool kits were standard for a long time. That's a cool, very complete bike!
The exhaust just has a USFS approved spark arrestor in it.

I have hundreds of hours on one of those. Most of my teenage years were spent riding the old Ct 175 in fields. I really liked the spare spark plug. Looks like a neat project.

I went to Vickery many times as a teen when I tried my hand at racing. Bought a few parts from them for a YZ I had. They are still in business with the same phone number.

yep just a spark arrestor that is approved for use.

A friend had a bike very similar to that one. I didn't remember the torque induction lettering?
