Does anybody have a picture of a 1973 or 1974 Blazer power steering pump and brackets...I cannot figure out where the bracket goes that tightens the pump....

There should be a bracket that bolts to the two front exhaust manifold bolts.

I just don't see it yet...maybe when I put the manifold on it will become apparent...or maybe I have the wrong bracket.

Do I need bolts or studs to mount the manifolds?

I am not overly familiar with the earlier trucks like yours, but on the later trucks as I recall, if AC equipped the bracket that supported PS and the AC compressor spanned the first exhaust runner, connecting to two studs that were used on either side of the #1 exhaust port. So first two "bolts" that hold the manifold on the drivers side. The bracket has an upside-down "U" shape that clears the exhaust manifold runner.

The original exhaust manifold bolts had a stud made on the head of the bolt for the bracket. Bolts on the rest. With high temp anti seize.

Right. I could show a pic of my 87, but it has a different compressor.

First, stop calling it a 5.7 -- it's a 350, dangit :haha:

BritishSlave is correct: There is a bracket that bolts onto the exhaust manifold (bolt through the bracket into the manifold), has a welded nut for your power steering bracket to tension it, and also has a stud sticking out of the top to which the AC bracketry attaches.

It is challenging to fit the camera down there, but I think this photo should 'splain better:

The exhaust manifold is to the right with the bolt through the bracket.

The PS pump is at the lower middle of the picture, with the bolt we can see lengthwise going through the slotted hole into the square nut.

Finally, center of the pic towards the top is the stud, facing to the left, which goes into the AC brackets. Note that I have a home-made York mount up there, so what looks like flat steel stock welded together ... is. :D

You can also see the bracket in this parts diagram:

It is behind (i.e. to the right and above) the slotted hole (#5) and is pictured bolted to the manifold. I could not immediately find the part in the parts book, thankyouverymuch GM.

Lemme know if I'm unclear and I can photochop some colors on the various pieces to distinguish them.

THAT's what I needed to see....that is an official GM diagram out of their parts catalog....where did you get that...better yet, where can I get them?

Umm, I officially have the official GM official parts officially illustrated official catalogs :haha: I got bored and dug through to find a pretty picture and scanned them for you. Ain't CK5 grand?

The books show up on Ebay now and again. There's two, one is the illustrations:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-1978-C...anuals_Literature&hash=item1c298196de&vxp=mtr

and the other is the parts listings, no pictures, but all the part #'s.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-OE...anuals_Literature&hash=item2c5bff32d4&vxp=mtr

I post these Ebay links solely as examples of the covers & content, not as any statement about the seller(s) in question.

As mentioned, if you absolutely need it I can go digging through the parts book and maybe find the number for the bracket.

And I was quite proud of the photo I took: took me about a dozen tries of holding the camera funny and shooting blind. :P

and I appreciate it...the reason I knew it was official is because I went to the Chevrolet dealer today and he pulled up the same chart and printed it out for me...he said that every new year model they drop the oldest year from their computers...
I asked him how I could get the entire 1974 Blazer printed out...

so the books exist...do they...

The books are organized by part type ("group") and not by vehicle, so you dig through front axle and steering to power steering pumps and inamongst all the I6's and big blocks and MHC's and G-vans you find K10/20 1973-5 350 with AC, which is what that was. I think.

Anyway, sure, the books exist, from dealers dumping them or whatever. As noted, easily had on Ebay, though apparently not cheap.

I find I use the green one with the pix more often than the blue, but having GM part #'s from the blue one can be useful now and again.

I swear somewhere I saw a parts catalog scanned into PDF that was free to access, but have been unable to find it again.

I should scan mine in, I've been procrastinating for years on doing it.

Does this apply to an 86' 350? And also if it does do you have a view of the smog pump side???? Ive been looking forever for this lol

gmpartswiki.com. Manuals r online, takes a little time 2 get
The hang of how it works but its all there.
Can view one page at a time and print.
I have the manuals at home but find online is easier.
