For sale really well built Chevy Blazer K5 1974. Vehicle is currently daily driven, has current registration and insurance. California clean title in hand. Everything is fine with the car, drives fine, transmission has been rebuilt 2 months ago. Brand new oil, oil filter, air filter. Come over and see it in real life, it's an excellent offroader that is 100% legit to daily drive on the streets.

Here you can see step by step how vehicle was built: https://ck5.com/forums/builds/74-k5-build-smurf.112/

Best of all. 1974 year does not require SMOG in California! That means you can customize engine however you want, you can also swap it for literally any engine you want (e.g. LS). 1976 and later none of that is possible in California as engine has to be original to pass SMOG. If you buy 1976 Blazer with Carburetor you have to keep that engine with that carburetor to pass SMOG.

Price: $11 000

Hey @imiceman44 I'm severely overwhelmed with life currently. Working 2 jobs, often times at nights, I have hardly any time left for family. Not to mention any side projects, hobbies or even exercise. I love the car and it's been tons of fun. Kids love it, wife loves it. But it doesn't work well for picking up / dropping off kids for school and after school activities and long trips like San Jose - Yosemite. What was supposed to be exciting side project became a burden and a trouble. I will most likely be getting 4Runner 5th gen instead now. I hope to get back to Blazer K5 at some point in future.

Oh I see, yes a k5 is not for that at least not this one.

Might I suggest an edit? Isn't the GM 10 bolt, the 44 and the 60 all "10 bolt"s.

Not sure what you are trying to say? Dana axles have 10 bolt covers but are not referred to by number of cover bolts during ID like the GM axles are.
A very good point that eluded me.

I ended up getting 4Runner in the meantime that works for my needs really well. It's good for long drives to Tahoe/Yosemite/SoCal, it's comfortable enough for family, it's got AC, it's reliable and it does decent job on easy and medium trails. Blazer doesn't get much action lately. I really like it but then as a grown up I can't justify keeping it. What does it take to move it? Any suggestions?

You just have to wait for the right buyer.
People are asking for that much for stock vehicles it's crazy

If you're looking for constructive feedback, here is mine. Two years ago I gave $6,500 for a 74 full vert K5 with a similar build quality as yours in CO. It had a 60 up front w/ ARB & rear was 14 bolt Detroit, 5.13 gears, (5) 42" MTRs, low mile engine but not as low as yours, SM465 manual trans. It didn't have the doubler you have but did have a 205 already installed and more importantly came with a NOS Lomax 205 not installed (main reason I bought the thing). That Lomax alone was worth $2k so the truck itself was essentially $4,500. Even with that kind of value built in, the truck still sat on the market for quite a while till I scooped it up.

I think there are a couple things that are working against you.

1) That paint job. It's definitely an acquired taste that not many people have
2) The half cab conversion. The main selling point of this year (besides smog exemption for you CA guys) was that it was a full convertible. The full verts are VERY desirable, half verts are just sort of run of the mill.
3) Overall condition/build. This thing is aesthetically rough around the edges and purpose built. There is a much bigger market (and price tag) for mild rigs in better aesthetic condition. Without a 60 front and bigger tires, I think this falls into the moderate build range and that's a small market. Most people are going to be looking for stock, mild, or fully built IMO.

I think if you really wanted this thing to move with any speed you'd need to be 50-80% of current asking price if you're trying to sell as is. If you invested in a normal paint job, even if it was just rattle canned a solid color, I think it would be the biggest single increase in value and aid in selling closer to desired asking price.

Most honest and realistic advice I've read in a while.

Rustoleum gallon from home store, foam cigar rollers and brushes, 3 days, and it’s a solid color that looks great and costed maybe $60 :)
