I’ll need to repair rust on the lip where the bed connects. This was the reason I removed the bed and I’m glad I did.

I do neeed some help identify the gasket/membrane between the bed and the cab.
I truly believe this is a rubber gasket and not some type of seam sealer. It’s too uniform and playable to be anything other than a gasket.
It’s still good enough I might can clean it up and reuse.

If anyone ever needs to do this, there are four welds, two on each side, connecting the front bed rail to the rocker boxes. Have it supported good because once those welds are cut it falls into the two sections.
While the Jimmy body is with the body guy, I’m rebuilding my steering column.
Does anyone know what hazard switch was original to the 74 Jimmys? It looks like there are two options, a round knob or a golf tee looking knob.
Mine is gone and I’ve no clue what it should be.

I’m not absolutely certain but I believe that era truck used the golf tee type switch.
All the squares that I owned used that type.

The tee is what my 74 Blazer had.
Thanks. That seems to be the general consensus.
Now I only need to figure out what all is missing.
For the version that looks like a knob, they offer a kit with a screw, spring, base and knob.
For the tee, they only sell the tee. I did find the screw. I don’t know if there are more guts that I need to buy.

Yep. I figured it out. I knew the turn signal switch was broke but didn't realize that the part that was missing was where the screw/hazard switch goes. Got a new switch and everything became clear.
Body shop guy is making progress on the Jimmy. We are trying to figure out what to do about the floors. There was nothing left where the floor meets the rockers so I'm trying to walk him through what those pieces are supposed to look like. Really wish someone would make a floor pan for these things. At least Key Parts came out with the entire rocker box assemblies. Both mine were shot.

My guy is making good progress. Still a long way to go.
We really really need someone, anyone, to make a floor for these models. Even if it’s the portion that meets up with the rockers. My floors are gone, eaten up with rust, so we can’t even make templates. We are going strictly from pictures. Hardest part is the piece that sandwiches between the floor and the rocker.

My guy 25 years ago built everything from scratch, he just knew in principle how things work and went to town.
He even had the floors bent and made it from thicker gauge.
I wish he was around here.
I can hold my own but he performs miracles
We are starting floors next week. We will see how it goes. I at least know how it should be and have pictures I found watching other people’s restorations. My body guy is great so hopefully we can recreate a very close correct floor.
