In your nightmares...
I just traded some stuff for a '75 Blazer with a solid tub and two tops, one of which is in excellent shape. I already have enough 4WD's and want to build a tire smokin' 2WD. I was talking to a local Chevy guy about getting a frame from his stock of stuff in 2WD apparel and he off handedly suggested that in 1974 and 75 the Blazer frames were the same for both 2 and 4 wheel drive and all I need it to get all the suspension from a 2wd and voila, it will bolt up. I have done a bit of research to confirm this, but have not been able to so far.

Anyone have any ideas on this?

And if it won't work, Which models and years of frame am I looking for in 2WD to make the swap?

My 76 2wd Blazer that is sitting outside my office was a 4wd so it can be done, and thye used all stock stuff to do it

hey kgb, that was for sale right? find have found beadlock an already ready to go project if you were still selling it depending on his location.

Yes it was/is for sale, just sitting out in my parking lot. It still has the 4wd brackets on it thats how I know it was converted. Its just a potiential project for me so I have no love for it or against it yet. I guess when my astro van decides to stop working I will make a decision on it.

That article was excellent. Thank You!

I am going to get the 2wd PU rolling chassis from this guy and start the swap in a couple weeks.

I will start the obligatory build thread so I can flaunt my mad swapping skillz

Jus finished it to my 88 blazer. Did it with out pulling the front body off or pulling the engine. Easy as pie, and i did it the hard way. Im doing a c notch and axle flip in the rear. No need for 2 wd hanger. If u want to slam it and body drop. I suggest just buying a frame and sawsalling it off at the fire wall, cut the blazer frame at the same place and just weld the 2wd frame on. If ur not modding the frame i suggest taking the controll arms and evrything off the crossmember. Less weight n u can mark holes for drilling.

Easy...shift the transfer case into 2WD and unlock the hubs :haha:

You guys are crazy that sounds like a lot of work. Cool project though and best of luck.

Hi, did you complete the swap?

Even more disappointing than coming across an old thread with no results, is learning KGB didn’t pick up that 2wd blazer. At least, I don’t remember seeing it :D
