What is this and can it be replaced. I was under the assumption that it was a cruise servo. The cables going to it are rusted through. I know I can replace the cruise with a cruise from the parts house, but I would like to keep the truck as original as possible. I just haven't been able to find one. So either I am calling it by the wrong name or it is no longer available.

That's the cruise vacuum actuator thingy. Not sure of the correct term for it either. Should be the same as cars of the same era. Maybe even trucks in the 80s....

What he said, and the thing just above the date stamp on the photo is the cruise control transducer.

Is this cruise acuator the same as the ones on the later models. I have one on a 78 but it is mounted on the manifold. Would that work with a cable, and are the cables still available? I am having a hard time finding this stuff from local junkyards and even from the online yards.

Just going by the part numbres, they are not. They changed to manifold mounted in 1978 and the part number changed.

Your 1976 (75-77) is part number 6494922, ASM, Servo - Cruise Control

A quick google search turns up a few places that have them NOS. Looks like same used on Corvette and proably most any other GM of the era.

The books also list two cables
Cable asm 354696 and 354697

A search on partvoice turns on one place with 354696 in NOS
NOS PARTS SOURCE LENEXA, KS 66285 (913) 220-5746

Now those cables are usally just regular speedo cables and you might have a secondary slip cable, you get get speedo cables anywhere and for the slip type just get a cut-to-legth throttle cable from most any parts souce.

Hope that helps ya!

Thanks I had problems finding anything with my searches but I am going to give that place in kansas a call on monday.

I know this is old post but I never found a servo for my truck. Has not been a huge issue. I did find some used ones but cannot be assured that they are working, so my question is this, is there a company or shop that can rebuild a servo?
