I have a oppertunity to purchase a 1976 Chevrolet C20 for $500..... just wondering what axles.... trans.... transfer case.... would be in that.... (not sure at this point if it is auto or manual)

I stole a 1976 for parts in my current blazer, 14 bolt... dana 44... SM465 with 205 case..... I assume I got lucky my donor truck had 4.56 gears (or unlucky.... dang low geared for highway driving....)

Any ways what could have been in the truck (assuming that this thing is untouched...)

Thanks guys :D

ok so she is mislabeled.....here is the one and only pic the guy had....

He is supposed to email me some more tonight.....

..... your killin me 38377k5........

That pic looks like a 2WD, the pic is a little hard to see but i don't see any locking hubs in that pic.

guy has a one line post on craigslist.....

"listing for a friend 1976 chevy 4x4 selling all but motor good 8 lug running gear body not in good shape 500.00"

hopefully he will email me those pictures soon......

might be a hd hub style front dana 44 with drive flanges and most of them i ever seen were 4.56 gears. and back then would be 14ff for the most part. as to tranny lets see a pic of the pan or case area.

new pics...... Ok so it is a 14 bolt.... NP205 from the inside picture.....Automatic (guessing Turbo 400).... Still can't make out the front end... I do not see hubs...

sweetk30..... tell us more about the hd hub style front dana 44 with drive flanges......

OK.... from this attached picture... and the first one from the last set.... look over the rear wheels.... does that look like where a dually wheel cover was... or could have been?.?.?.?.... So if this thing is really mislabeled could it be a 1 ton dually?.?.?. maybe a 60.?.?.?.

**Edit** I zoomed in from the original picture of the first of the last set...... "custom deluxe 20" badge..... drive flanges.. no hub.?.?.?... so what could the front be.?.?.?...

dana 44 older style with hd bolt on hubs or bolt on drive flanges with no way to un lock them.

no big deal just un bolt and bolt on a set of hd style bolt on hubs .

thay are kind of like the internal style drive flanges of the rest of the axle styles.

box was swaped on at 1 time i will bet for sure.

and closer look at that shifter might be a 203 full time unit aspr the flull time drive flanges it has on the front. but if so and has a th400 it will be the beginning of a th400/203 range box/ doubler kit/205 tcase setup.
