Hi all,

New here. I am currently in the process of swapping out my 350 to a 454 in my 1976 K5 blazer.

I know I want to go with the off road design competition motor mounts, but am curious should I go the extra mile and put a 2in lift on and install off-road designs high clearance cross member as well to help stiffen things up? Thoughts on living stock cross member or upgrading?

Also curious what oil pan and clutch you may recommend for this swap as well. Stock capacity vs. aftermarket higher capacity?

Thank you in advance for any recommendations and feedback.

I did this swap on my 77K5 Iron Maiden build.
Check my thread for frame mods, steering reinforcement, DIY4X competition mounts, and a 2” body lift, and much more if you want to go down the rabbit hole!

I’ve got the ORD comp mounts and crossmember, both are excellent products.

I’m using a stock K30 oil pan and had a local driveline shop put together a heavy duty clutch with ceramic material on the disc. Really, a clutch can get as far out as you’re willing to pay for so it just depends on how frisky the engine is.

The answers to your questions really hinge on the ultimate goal for the truck. We can get as wild as you want but do you need it?

Thank you for those responses.

The ultimate goal is to have a fun weekend cruiser for the family. I don’t need anything wild.

Did you install the 2” lift as recommended by ORD for the crossmember or were you able to get away without installing the l
