My cousin bought a 76 Blazer and it seems to eat Warn hubs??

Was it originally a auto hub truck?
I seen in Warns website where they mention a Spindle nut conversion kit??

A 76 blazer would not have been auto hubs. When you say it "eats Warn hubs" what is happening? Are these the Warn premium hubs or the standard hubs?

Premium hubs. They are very hard to turn and after only a few times out the spin completely around when trying to lock them.

Did he/you use any grease on them when installing them? They are supposed to go in without any extra grease, take out of box and install. Warn premium hubs are made so that you must turn the dial almost 360* to lock/unlock them.

Nope, no extra grease. I'm aware of how they work. By saying they spin all the way around I mean they don't spot spinning. I know when I did my 60 in my Jeep the stubs had to be cut down about an 1/16th of an inch, but they were also Superior Axles, so I don't remember if it was just those stubs.

I'm assuming the previous owner did something to mess up the spindle or something along that line so I'm kinda inquiring on what could have been done wrong.

From Warns site..

G Vehicles With Full Time 4WD Requires Transfer Case Conversion Kit
H When Replacing Automatic 3 Hole Cap Screw Hubs, You Must Purchase Corresponding Spindle Nut Conversion Kit

According to the intardnet... His is an automatic.

By 1976, full-time 4WD was standard on all Blazers with automatic transmissions. Conventional 4WD with locking hubs remained available with the manual transmissions

You might want to open it up and see what is going on with the hub nuts and make sure it has not sheared the pin off and is forcing itself outwards and eating the hub mechanism. Stage 8 sells a kit that replaces them and a lot of people think it can't happen but I know a long time ago my 77 that had been a full time 4wd conversion either sheared a pin off the inside nut or somehow got put together without someone knowing it was supposed to have that pinned nut and it rotated out both nuts enough to eat into the back side of hub parts on that side. I just happened to catch it before things got bad when I was changing some brake pads out.
