This is how the truck sat when I pulled it from the field. My brother drove the truck for a while, stripped it down, bought new fenders, doors, and hood to do a restoration on it. Then somebody stole the carb off of it and got water in the engine. It sat for the next ten years due to my brother getting busy and discouraged. I picked it up off of him for 800 bucks with a bed and all new panels.

Then I got to work on the body and interior. The cab needed rockers, cab corners and a couple floor patches. I went PPG Satin black Catalyst urethane because of the price tag. If I rub a fender, itll only cost about 15 bucks or so to reshoot it.

Then I got a box in PERFECT condition for 200 bucks. Got all the body work done and slapped it on the truck. Finished up all the loose ends.

Then I bought some new tires and went off to college. Budget got short due to education expenses (i.e. Thirsty Thursdays)

I put 3 inch dual exhaust on that dumps in front of the rear wheels on either side. The transmission took a dive so I picked up a solid used one from a friend. Cleaned it up, put a B&M deep pan and shift kit in it. Absolutely love the way it performs now. It acts like an entirely different truck with a happy transmission it. Still have to fix a couple of ground issues and carb issues yet. I cant seem to get the choke adjusted right on the edelbrock and Im having drainback issues with the china-made fuel pump.

The truck has temporarily been put on the back-burner for now due to a suburban project I've started. I might make a build thread, but I'm not sure yet. Not going too crazy with it, just making a decent hunting rig/road trip/tow rig out of it

Hahahha I love the education expense.... I'm in the same boat with school and work. Truck looks good though man, I love those rims.

Im struggling with this darn carb. Its an Edelbrock 1406 with a performer eps manifold and a mild cam. I rejetted it what the local engine builder says is optimal for this altitude (5200 ft) and it ran GREAT in the summer. Now that theres a foot of snow on the ground, it hates life miserably. I have to pump the pedal about a hundred times and crank for a good 30 seconds to get the thing to start. My choke is not coming on (easy fix, just havent had time to do it yet) so I have to feather the throttle for a good 2-3 minutes to keep it running. On start up it idles at about 400 rpm, but once it is up to operating temp, it idles at around 900-too high! The truck refuses to run right until my water temp reaches about 165 degrees, I have a 190 thermostat. You have to nearly idle while driving until it reaches temp, otherwise it chokes itself out and dies. Once I reach temperature, it runs great! BUT it studders when applying throttle at any cruising speed. I think I'm running a little fat. I was wondering what jets and metering rods you all recommend? I cannot recall what I put in it.

Not too much new to report. I bent both main leafs on my front springs so I bought some 3 inch ez rides from a buddy to put under the front. Steering box was cooked so I bought a new one. I cant afford crossover yet so I bought another 4x4 one. I got a new job at Orielly Auto Parts so there should be some new developements to come.
