Yup, 12-bolt and maybe 4" of lift. Talk him down to $2000. I paid $3,000 for my '90 and the body has NO rust, frame had only minor surface rust, interior looked new, had a 3" bodylift, and fresh paint. Engine runs good, tranny works fine, needed new a/c, and the power steering hoses had to be replaced. So, I would say $3,000 for the 2nd option you have is a bit much.

Yeah, I'd pass on that second one. My '91 was 1500 with solid running (so far) 350 motor/tranny (140k miles) and the only rust found is minor surface rust on the top of the cab.

I saw the dyno for the engine today. 407rwhp and more torque than ill ever use.

That would be a 10 bolt front and a 12 bolt rear. The stock 1/2 ton axles for that K5. Nothing 1 ton about it. Unless you think that engine is worth the extra or really want the 4 speed the 1st one is the better deal. The only real plus in my eye is the SM465/NP205 combo. Just my 2 cents.

That would be the transmission and transfer case. The SM465 is a truck transmission with a granny 1 gear, around 6.5:1. The NP205 has a cast iron case and is an all gear setup. It is a popular set up. Hope that helps.

So yeah I may just pass on both of these. I finally hunted down an ATV I had a while back I loaned out and never got back, so I can enjoy trails again. Ya'll keep your eyes out for a short bed truck or Blazer, pref 350 or larger, diesel or gas. Rust is bad. If any of ya'll in the DFW area know where to find these, before I try and hit impound auctions, or even private wholesale auctions, let me know.

Yeah, you might want to keep looking. Just remember finding a diamond in the rough is tough sometimes. And most people want way more for their trucks after they modify them. Few realize you NEVER get back out what you put in. The $1,700 one is actually not that bad except you have issues with the rust. The second one might be a decent deal b/c of the engine and it's already lifted. Consider that one decent enough to drive around for awhile. Undoubtedly you will modify it and end up spending more than the purchase price, but it could get by for now.
