I've got a '78 Blazer with the 350 and a quadrajet (that I assume is original). The problem is that all of the linkage on the carb looks like it was made out of coat hanger by a drunken monkey.

I was wondering if anyone has one that's hooked up correctly, and wouldn't mind taking some pictures of it and posting them so I can attempt to get mine back to working correctly.

17058213 would be the original carb number for a 78

search for that number on ebay... you will find lots of photos.

That worked really well, thanks man!

I think all of the linkage makes sense to me now with one exception. There is a flat spiral spring (clock spring?) bolted to the intake manifold on the passenger side of the carburetor. I assume this should be tied into the carb linkage somehow, but none of the eBay pictures include it.

If one of you guys could explain it in words that's cool, or a picture would be great.

Are these two springs? One is inside the other?

thats the divorced choke. lemme find a photo. We have to have fifty of these carbs on vehicles and shelves.

thats a bi-metal spring that turns the choke on. there is an exhaust passage in the intake that heats it up. when it gets hot, it changes shape and turns the choke off.

here ya go. mine still has the cover over it. but the rod goes into an "eye" on the spring that is towards the front of the engine.

edit- i think i made that rod on mine from a coat hanger.
