Could you hack the roof off a Suburban right at the rear windows and put on a removable top from a 76+ K5? /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Has anybody done this or had this idea?
If so , pics would be cool!!

Obviously you would have to start with a Suburban with a gate and not barn doors. But you could put some plastic crap on the sides below the body line for that Aztek/Avalanche look.
Or better yet, 20"s and Cadilac emblems and tell people its the original Escalade /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif!!

why not a completely removeable top...

or better yet, pull a hummer 1 style chop on a blazer, as in put a back window right at the backseat and have the rear cargo space sealed at the bed.

none, crew cab is 3+3(3 people in front, 3 people in back), yeah you would have a shortbed 3+3 but 3+3s are harder to find than burbans here anyway.

The Burban will have a shorter (Short?!?! :P) wheelbase compared to a K30. You could just use a K30 and mod the box to become significantly shorter, which if what I would lean towards...

There's a 1st Gen K5 like that in Greeley, Colorado that I see every time I go there... it lives a few blocks from where I used to live, I should go tell them about CK5...

I've also seen it done on a Jeep Wagoneer. It looked like hell, they used wood and plastic instead of metal and glass... But a good idea still... I've always wanted to do something like that with a mid-size SUV (my Xploder maybe)... But then I wouldn't be able to have my huge sub box /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

There is guy I go to around here in a pinch who has all kinds of K5/10/20 parts. Most of it is crap, all of it can be found in a junkyard, but he is cheaper and way more entertaining. He's crazier than most K5 addicts. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

He's got a 77 Jimmy that he plows with that has a piece of OSB right behind the seats where the roof stops. He's got a sliding backglass in there held in by RTV and drywall screws!!! At least he painted the wood to match the rest. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I saw the pics of burboy's rig. Exactly what I had in mind!!
