1978 K20 farm truck "Boring maintenance phase"

1978 K20- Rusty beater farm truck
I thought when I decided the put the center caps from my 08 Silverado on the white wagon spokes on the 66 I was being clever and original. Yet now I notice the same idea all over the place. :doah:

I plan on taking mine off if it makes you feel better! The original 16’s and hub caps will go on when it’s time for new tires. Which at the rate of 500 miles a year that may be awhile

Coming from someone with a truck as clean as yours I appreciate hearing it!
My stepside might be clean but my plow truck is much worse than yours. Check it out, it's the GAC Truck thread.

What a difference a month makes. Last picture I took I was driving this and it was 53 degrees. Now its -1, over a foot of snow, and high winds, and after having sat for a month the tbi350 cranked right to life. Rotten floors with high winds and cold sucks

Not much of a truck update. I need to do something with the clutch, for some reason the dang thing is pretty much always out of adjustment which is annoying. I should've just went hydro to start with but oh well.

Picked up a new accessory for the truck last weekend, old Miller Roughneck 1E. Got it sorted out and running yesterday then put it straight to use welding together a new stretch of continuous fence.

This truck may be in for some good upgrades before long. The K30 plow truck frame may be the death of that truck which would result in this truck getting its 4.56 geared dually axles. That would be a vast improvement over the 3.73's it has now. With that and some airbags I have it should make a good farm tow pig

Um...does the snazzy CAT service truck not have a welder? Dang I miss all that green stuff you got back that way.

I felt the same when I lived in Wyoming. The locals always told me it was "too green" back east.

What's wrong with that k30 frame?

There isnt much left, once the exhaust was out so the inner side of the rails was visible it became more apparent. The lower channel is nothing but thin scale and the crossmembers have all lost contact with the rails. From the cab forward is good, behind the cab not so much

Airplane tug? Hmm...

That k30 is a sbc400?

It was ordered with one and the suffix codes on the front point that way as well, so I'm assuming it is. I never did bother to look at the balancer though now that I think about it

Finally a Minor truck update, the 4 year old summit chambered mufflers never have sounded good on this 350 and finally got replaced. One had a cracked baffle that vibrated terribly towards the end. And being cheap netted me these....

Screwed the outlets on for now. It sounds really good but us louder than I would like. When it gets the 4.56 geared tons Real mufflers may get installed to keep the noise down. But we’ll see what happens since it really needs a new exhaust system from the manifolds back at this point.

Also greased the clutch linkage and adjusted it a little more then took it for a test drive and got a good picture of it in its habitat.

Also took it to grab some scenery photos when the sun started going down, notice the lightening up in the clouds in the one shot, not bad for a cell phone

You're motivating me to do some exhaust work. That's pretty much exactly the exhaust routing I want to do on the 73. Right now it just dumps in front of the axle under the bed and sometimes it gets a little fumy when stopped at a light. I think I'm going to add a 45 degree down angle at the end tho.
