I haven't posted here before and I'm looking for help on my winter project for this year.

I have a 1978 Blazer that I need to fix the windshield rust that has started to bleed into the cowl. So far I've been able to find the typical full windshield/cowl replacement panels from places like LMC etc. My only problem is that it's hard to justify 1000-1400 dollars depending on where I go. Is there any other sources or anyone who has experience just repairing the rust? I've scoured facebook for parts trucks and even reached out to desert valley auto wreckers. Here in the midwest it's hard to find a good body for potential parts vehicles. The rust on mine is worst at the bottom of course but there are rust holes at the top and along the sides. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm in the same boat, not too many solid parts trucks here in the Northeast either. I have acquired roof and pillar sections from 3 different donor trucks to get mine back together and not even close to the $1k+ for new metal. It will take tons of labor though, you'll be drilling spot welds in your dreams... Good luck with the search!

I know Maxx here in Denver might have a frame from this part out but I doubt you can ship something like that without paying a fortune and most sellers don't want the hassle. Maybe if someone was coming through Denver and heading back east. I can talk to Maxx to see if its even possible and verify this one has no rust.

I am currently in the process of transplanting a windshield frame from a donor to another K5. Don't do it. I already got the parts car, but if I knew how much labor it is, I would've just bought the panel.
And in addition to that, the transplant will need some welding too before I can fit it, as most of the k5 will have rust there. Before welding it back on I need to remove the rust entirely.
Removing the panel will slighly bend it, so I am even right now thinking of buying the panel. Unfortunately, shipping to europe will need a lot of time (sea freight) and will bring the cost up to 1.5k
