1979 Blazer Cheyenne

These first 2 pictures of the blazer were taken in 2016 when a guy I work with told me he had a blazer sitting at his place. Checked it out, made a lowball offer based on what it was. Couple years went by and we made a trade deal. Here we are almost 5 years later and I finally dug it out.

Jake very generously let me borrow his trailer with a winch along with a pretty slick gas air compressor. The blazer was finally pulled from its 2002 parking spot!

This 79 was painted at some point. I don’t know what year. It got new GM doors and fenders and lots of old school patch work in the tub. Unfortunately that did nothing but make the rust worse. Doors and fenders are nice! I found a new hood for it.
He has the original carb and the distributor. So I guess the plan currently is to get it running, some factory wheels and good tires. No major plans other than maybe sanding the terrible cracking paint off and bombing it desert tan……

Nice. I have one myself, white with a blue interior.

It’s alive! Got the HEI distributor back in, carb back on. New wires, replaced some fuel line and filter. Fired right up!

Pulled these 15” tires from the pile at work. They hold air at least. Got some rallies I’ll put on it once I find 33” tires.

I kinked the hood a little, it’s trashed anyways. Good thing I have another one. It’s even tan!

Fixed a fuel line leak, got the throttle cable hooked up and couldn’t resist taking for a spin. Made it to a close gas station and back!
Oh and of course the top had to come off

That is what it needs. I have a set on my 72 that will probably go on this when I start tearing it down

Well ol blue got parked on jack stands so I put theses styled white spoke wheels on the 79. Much better. I also spent a few more hours cleaning the interior today. Much more comfortable knowing you aren’t sitting in mouse

Need to go grab a better hood and spray it. When I do that I’ll try to use a few more cans to even out the sides. Texture out of those cans is really inconsistent

Short lived. I didn’t have much interest in keeping this around. Tops on and down the road to a new owner
