Hello Out there in 4x4 land, I have a small problem I wondered if someone could help pinpoint a noise I recently came across after hooking up my Chevy k-10 which I converted from 1/2 to a pair of 3/4 ton 373 axles front axle being a 10 bolt and rear being a 14 bolt corporate being pushed by a sm465 and np205 transfercase. It seems after placing on my newly rebuilt front driveshaft and giving the 4wd a spin around I noticed a clicking noise when I engaged it from 2wd to 4HIGH. now this truck was an auto and had to drop a hole in the floor for the shifter on the sm465 to be mounted and I noticed the np205 when your engaging the shifter from 2 wd to 4 high wd tends to bump the shifter linkage against the hole on the floor where the 4wd transfercase shifter is located so Im wondering before I take another look if the transfercase isnt being pulled all the way back and is being held back before completely engaging would that be a sypmtom for the clicking noise Im hearing which sounds like its eminating from the transfercase. Any advice on this please feel free to assist this amateur. Thanks a TON

The shifter needs more clearence for sure, but the clicking noise needs a little more diagnosis. Noises resonate under a vehicle and come from places you wouldn't suspect. I would check for driveshaft hitting crossmember, u-joint bind, and possibly jack the front wheels up and make sure its not a locking huub making the noise.

could be the hub or the front driveshaft cv joint needs clearance if you have some lift. 465/205's have short front shafts and steeper angles.

yep make extra room around the shifter for sure.

I had to clearance my U-joint at the front of the Tcase because of the angle. I do still get some clicking when the front droops near max. Also look at clearance on crossmembers

Check the front driveshaft, as sugested, and make sure there is grease in the axle shaft u-joints.
