Does anybody know what the axle ratio options were for a 1979 K20 with a 400/203 combo? I think it had a D44 and 14B. How do I tell if it is FF or SF? Thanks.

"dremu" "slosh" "brochure" on Google should net you the 1979 brochures listing available axle ratios for that year.

14SF didn't come into being until '81 or '82, certainly after '79. For easy ID (and there are many ways) the 10/12/14SF's all have one set of nuts on the wheel, lug nuts. Either 5, 6, or 8. A 14FF will have 8 lug nuts, then another set of hub bolts.

Sweet link man! Good to know info there! Thanks...I didn't find what I was looking for but it had full floating rear ends listed in the brouchure for 1979 K20 so would that be a D44 or D60 or what?

My '79 K20 Camper Special had 350,th400,NP203,D44,14FF & 3.73's

Should have had the axle ratios available in the chart near the last page with things like engines and transmissions available. There were likely only 4 or 5 at most available.

14FF for the rear.

'79 front should be an 8lug 10 bolt.
Chevy's should have 10 bolts.

GMC's should have Dana 44's.

Don't ask me. I didn't build them this way. All I know and what I've seen, GMC's ran D44's up to '82 where they phased them out. '83 saw both GMC and Chevy with 10 bolts.
