I’m new to the forum life so hopefully I’m doing this right! I recently bought my dream truck and want to lift the truck and put 37s on it. I found a guy who is going to trade me 6 37 Goodyear military tires and 5 16.5 in rims. He also has 4 16.5 rims for a single wheel he is giving me. The tires are new and he is trading for my m1008 that has a salvage title. The m1008 has 60000 miles and everything works great. Was wrecked in the front. Is this a good trade? Also how do I make it work on the dually? How big of spacers do I need if it will work and how good are the Humvee tires mileage wise? I know it will ride rough . 6” lift? Will i have to change anything on the dually and will Humvee tires wear un-even.? Thanks

Those military tires are probably pretty old. I don't think they have been manufactured in a long time, mine were all pretty old. Make sure you know what you are getting, cracks and dry rot are a problem. The axles under that m1008 are worth $2000 easy in todays market. Doesn't seem like a great trade to me unless those are brand new tires with new date codes.

This is an awful trade.
Yes those tires are probably old enough to drink. Even when new had very mediocre results. Their only shining attribute was they were never over 100 bucks a piece.

So did they stop making humvee tires and I’m t

10-4 I’ll keep the m1008. Any ideas for tire and rim set up for the dually if I want to run something close to 37s

There are new ones. The bfg baja and goodyear MTR. Both of which have a high probability of being old. They are mediocre overall. Even new within date I would not value them high enough to trade the cucv.
Theres alot of collateral damage to run 37s.
Spacer size depends on the wheels and tires you choose but you can bet on a 2.5 probably working.
If it were me, id run dodge 17 dually wheels and hub rings with 37" radial tires from this century.

10-4 I am gonna keep the m1008! Thanks.. I was misinformed about Humvee tires.

I ran the BFG Baja most recently. The newest ones are still way old. They had a decent forward bite but stopping on ice and snow wasn't good at all. Probably my favorite out of the military tires but haven't been made in a long time now. The MTR were a lot better than the MT. MT were not really good anywhere, mud, snow or asphalt. The old school Goodyear OZ 36" were terrible, bias, and ancient now.

For perspective here about a year ago I bought 37" toyos from walmart.com at $300 each. I feel that they are a very high quality tire. $1800 bucks for a set of 6 for your dually. Add some 17" wheels and you are under $3k. The m1008 can probably get you that money, even with the damage. You would be in NEW tires, not used. Look around, check for sales.

Thank you I’ll hold on to the m1008. I was quoted to get the m1008 fixed for 3000 and a rebuilt title so I know I can do better with the m1008.

one thing I have learned about lifting these crew cabs (from lifting my own crew cab) is that these trucks have so much sheet metal and frame that a set of 6" lift spring will only get you about 5" of lift because the weight of the sheet metal and frame of a crew cab will compress the lift springs that much.
