I picked up a 1982 GMC High Sierra k25 with a j code 6.2 diesel/sm465/np208 for $500 dollars back on friday, the owner said it needed a injector pump and battery's. Changed fuel filters and installed 2 battery's. It runs and drives great so Im not sure if the injector pump is even bad, time will only tell.

Here are some pics of when I got it home.

Here are the pics with the running boards gone, cab visor gone, and the bed that I traded the wooden bed and $100 dollars for.

So $600 as it sits in the last pics..  that sounds like a great deal :waytogo:!! Plans for it?

looks good.if it runs good now that you did some maintanence that was already needed even better.nice 600 dollar find.

I don't know you but already I dont like you. How do you guys keep finding these deals? Makes me sick.

Nice score :haha::haha::haha:

Nice score! In my neck of the woods i see deals like that all the time. It's just a good thing i don't have lot's of property, man i would have one heck of a fleet.

Yup $600 as it sits in last pics.

Plans include finding a cheap 4in lift, some cheap rims and 33's or 35's, and later on down the road a cummins/nv4500 swap.:D

Hey, what's the camper in the first pic? The shape and colors make it look like an old Serro Scotty.

Alittle update, havent driven it in a while due to rebuilding all of the front end, in the process of putting a used 4in lift on, and some used 37's on it.

Goos score on that truck!..My '82 K2500 is a close cousin of yours,it has the 6.2/TH400 and I got mine cheap too, paid 350 bucks for it back in '03,got it not running and someone had just installed a rebuilt tranny and a salvage yard 80K motor in it,but couldn't get it to start,so they were disgusted with it..mine is maroon, with a visor and a 8' stepside bed, which led my friends to nickname it "Fugly"..but it has plowed my driveway faithfully for 7 years without and major malfunctions!..

I think lots of folks blame the injector pump when some other problem is what thge real trouble is--so many times I've seen trucks that someone gave up on too soon, after hearing that costly pump might be whats keeping it from running...one guy I know got a real nice 1 ton dump 4x4 with a 6.2 ,a 1986,for 250 bucks, because the former owner said "it needs a new injector pump, all the injectors, and maybe a fuel tank"...he got it home on a trailer,we had it running 15 minutes later--the main feed line to the fuel tank and filter had rotted in half!..a hunk of rubber hose fixed that fast..he's been offered 1800 bucks for it already, but doesn't want to part with it now!..

It's getting rare to find ANy old GM trucks here now,and especially the diesels, they didn't sell too many of them here, and the few youdo see for sale usually are priced high,or are so whipped they are not worth having, and junkyards scrap or cannibalize them quickly...I got a good deal on my '85 Suburban, paid 400 for it,but it needs a tranny and numerous other things,it aint a rotbox, but has some areas that need patching up too...it would sell for 1500+ otherwise here,a lot of folks like diesel Suburban's and 4wd ones, and they are getting scarce ..

You got any pics of your truck, id like to see it.

The funny thing about my truck is that I rode in it when it was almost brand new when I was kid and wanted it back then because I thought it was a awesome truck, my truck was originally Dark Blue with a Charcoal bottom. The truck was bought new buy the father of the guy that sold it to me and I plan on either painting it back original or just a solid Dark Blue.

Ive been trying to find a 8' stepside bed for my truck but have had zero luck except for the one thats forsale on here out in Cali, I know most think the stepside long bed is hideous but I think it is something different and I like it.

Yes alot of people don't have alot of faith in these old 6.2's and they yank them out at the first sign of trouble, for the short time Ive driven mine Ive kinda fallen in love with it. Even with it not running the best it still got better mpg than my 00 GMC and with the 4spd trans it seems to run pretty good, I was kinda surprised on how it run due to how everybody talks at how big of a turd these motors are supposed to be.

I might be able to put a photo of it in my signature,I haven't figured out how to post pictures online any other way yet..my other computer that has the pictures of it is "down" at the moment though...I dont have a camera (digital) either.

A friend posted some photos of my truck and tractor collection on another web site some time ago,I'll see if I can find the post and put a link to it..

Well,I cant get the photo to take,or link to the post on the other site ..if you want to try to see the pictures in the post I'm refering too,try logging onto Mytractorforum.com..the adress on the post was mytractorforum.com/showthread.php?=10946
The post was made by user "Merlin 777",who is the guy I got the Suburban from...so far thats the only picture of the "Burb" I have!..

Nice score man. Hydraulic or mechanical clutch?

Thanks, its got the mechanical clutch, was hoping when I popped the hood I would see hydro but I wasn't lucky enough but ya can't have it all.
