Another "device" you'll need is a trans fluid cooler, IN ADDITION TO THE IN TANK COOLER IN THE RADIATOR. .

I wasnt thinking to add one right away although i have no problem doing so. with a gauge i will know if i need one soon enough.

I found that thread with the dash panel layouts, pics are gone. I guess CK5 uses an expiration date on pics, and thats logical to save space. Looks like tomorrow my motor goes from stand to on the hook and in between the fenders.:D

I have been thinking about dash rebuild as well. Have you made a list of the new lights and switches you want? I have a short one so far. I offer here FYI.

fuel pump pressure low light or guage, tcc lock-up light with cut out switch, 0-5K tach (i run a diesel), low coolant in reservior light, coolant pressure guage, exhaust temp guage(diesel thing)

I havent invested any money on these yet except for the tach which i have in my hot little hands.
Tach, engine oil press and temp, trans temp, amps, volts, water temp. I am also going to install a veg oil system so i will need two fuel temp gauges, an additional level gauge and fuel pressure. While i am at it i was thinking of ditching the stock spedo and going with an Autometer unit because they look cool, and have a resetable trip meter. So 12 gauges in all and i want to make it look somewhat factory and clean.

For switches im installing a set of fog lights and the veg oil system and thats about it so im not too worried about how i am going to place those. The front of these dashes are about the size of a small landing strip from what i am used to so that should be a non-issue finding a good spot for them.

Oh man, are you a Pilot?:D
No, i just want lots of cool blinking lights and spinning needles to distract me while i drive. Besides, the more gauges you have the faster your truck, right?

I bet after all this work you will keep the 31's on it right!? Where is the gun rack going?

31's or 33's will suit me just fine. Mostly road with some wheeling thrown in.
Im not putting a gun rack in it but wouldnt it be sweet if i had a machine gun turret? I still know where i can get some of those for cheap and i have a buddy in Santa Barbra that needs a machine gun to hit anything. Hey, he drives a sissy looking black K5 too. Coincidence?

Oh i know what im going to do about my seat and seat belt dilemma. I was reading through 2Dogs post on his interior and saw he used a set of late model Silverado seats. Perfect! I like the seats in my duramax and they have the seat belts included so now i have to find an appropriate set on e-bay.

I don't know if it matters to you but I think the cruise control has a unique interface with the stock speedo..just on diesels, because there is no manifold vac. One of the tech articles has a plan for aftermarket work-around if you ditch the stock speedo

Thanks for the heads up but im not going to keep the cruise if it is still there. Im not going to use it and thats just more stuff to get in the way so i wont be keeping it if its still there. (i havent even checked yet)

How much did the Rhino/Line-X guy charge you? I have my interior gutted and got a quote of $660. Now I'm waiting for the Christmas bills to fade off the credit card....

FYI ... the 6.2 cruise runs off a vacuum, located either at the back (same spot as gasser dist) or up front on a pulley. There is also and input from the speedo for vehicle speed. The harness is pretty self contained and wouldn't be hard to add or remove

They charged me $550, i had it done here in San Jose by the Line x place that did my pickup truck. They did an ok job, had to touch it up in a few spots.
I will take some pics this weekend and post them, have been swamped at work and the project has collected dust over the past week.

Well the project has come to a stop for the past month or so.
I got the duramax cloth seats installed and i love them. I put some cheap carpet sections back in the floorboard areas to kill the noise and it is really really quiet now.

I ordered all the seals i will need and axle parts to put LSD's front and rear, but havent done it yet. this job thing is really getting in the way of my play time.

Oh, the other day i learned i didnt have 4 wheel drive. After i was stuck of course.
So i need to figure out why the front end isnt engaging. I can hit 4 low, but that still dosent engage the front. The drive shaft is still there so im not sure hat the issue is, but it shouldnt be to hard to figure out.
If i need to replace the xfer case is there someplace suggested that does a great job on a rebuilt unit?

My replacement tranny is on its way, should be here in a week or so. I will take some pics of my horrible looking carpet job. Its rather funny.
