1983 shortbed/ stepside build thread

Lol...no next couple months..the snows brown around it. Cleaned underneath and have almost all of it done, used a steam jenny. 6.00 in kerosene and its all good. Also running with the windows up the inside isn't bad at all..lol.. It was fun, I gave my 358 a workout. The new propane parts made it run better and stay cool. My afr never went too rich or too lean and it didn't ping.

Over the last few months I picked up a few new /used parts. I found a set of a little over 1/2 tread 39.5 boggers, im interested to see how they work compared to the tsl's. I picked up a set of 35 spline inner yukons, Yukon spool , drive slugs and non greaseable spicers for the 60. Also picked up a turbo 400/205 combo. Its at the trans shop now getting all redone with a manual valve body. I plan on using an art carr shifter mounted where the shifter comes out of the floor now. Im glad I didn't do the twin stick to my current 205, now I can put it in the newest one and connect it to the 400. Last ill finally get to use the dual impco carb adapter and another impco model e. The e now has the orange spring I needed to work with my x450. Just waiting for the gaskets, fitttings and another lockoff to come from nash fuel.

heres the boggers and the flanges, the only 2 I have at the moment.

If I do break it I have backup...lol. mr Rockwell...

I hope not to need to do that tho, with the new gears, th400 and boggers with the dual carbs I hope it works out like intended.

Dual carbs. Haven't seen that in a while. I don't feel like looking back, but weren't you running propane? Or was that someone else on here?

No that's me..lol. They make a propane adapter to use one baseplate and two carbs. For more cfm, I could use a little more. Only catch to that is I need 2 of everything which is a lot. Ill take pics when I get it together before I put it on. I have the one carb apart now cleaning it and getting it ready.

Ill be sure to take pics of the dual carbs, that's next on the to do list. I finally took my boggers off of the 6 lug wheels and mounted them on 8 lug flat black wagons with long chrome lug nuts. Oh and no the house in the background isn't mine, a guy in town is loosing like 10 properties over taxes.

:haha::haha:.....dick..lol..:D.... When I seen the house in the background I was like...ahh oh well its not mine anyway. Not thinking how would you know that...lol....if my pic was a little more right you would see the house roof caved in. Its shot, needs a gas can and a match. Hopefully they mow it over, id like to buy the property and put up a garage.

Not sure I like the wagon wheels the boggers are on. im going to keep a look out for beadlocks or a set of decent wheels. Ive gotta keep this thing running, no down time till the parts come in to fix the rear in my 2500hd. Its my daily driver till tomarrow, Im glad tho I can always turn the key and it fires right up. I heard this revving yesterday for about 10 min, the cable bucket truck was stuck in a snow bank. The guy chuckled when I said do you need a pull. I said one of two things will happen, either I get you out or it will tear the tow hook off...lol...no sweat.

Don't mind the background...lol...and by the way cheap beer sucks baaad.:doah:

Mounted the carbs to the adapter today, should work out pretty good. The newer carb in the front and the older in the rear. Its going to be tall under the hood. Going to make brackets to mount the regulators to the other side of these standing on end. I have an air cleaner coming that will use the 14 inch round element and my flat black bowtie cleaner lid. I need to pick up more plastic fittings for the smaller vacuum hoses and some 5/8 heater hose for the install. I hope to have it running by the end of the week, as long as the tuning isn't a huge hassle. The front one was tuned almost perfect when it ran last.

New parts today, air cleaner base that fits both carbs in a 14 inch air cleaner. I got all the gaskets in and the carb mounted up. Don't mind the mud, this truck gets used hard. After work tomarrow ill change the spring in the model e to the orange one so it works with my x450 carbs. Im going to screw the model e's right to the side of the carbs, make a bracket to support them. Then I can put the lockoffs side by side on the inner fender. Ill make up 2 new pressure hoses to go from the lockoffs to the e's. Im going to make a aluminum plate tomarrow at work to screw into the top of both carbs and put a stud in the middle so I can use my gm performance filter lid(just like the last pic).

I added a 2 inch riser to both carbs for the air filter. Then the regulators have room on the side. I'm waiting for 2 more 1/8 npt fittings and it should be complete.

Hopefully John looks at this and it motivates him to finish his dual propane setup.

Hopefully this whole swap is worth it, it will take me a few days to be able to fire it up and test it. Im trying to get it done right the 1st time.

Should work good. I am going to run one lock off and y to the model es. I think about using the y but I will still try the tunnel ran first. I wonder how much better those cabs work vs my 425s.
