I have several 1984 Suburbans, Pick Ups and a Blazer, + a few newer 6.2's... And All of a sudden, I'm having probs with what I think is the controller (On ALL the 84's). I read a couple of posts... But I wonder if anyone's more familiar with the posts...

I cut open a dead controller, and saw the Guts...

I bought a new one on eBay, and plugged it into my formerly working Blazer, and it works , so I know it's the controller. Prob is the antifreeze. What a pain to drain it... I could try a quick swap...

Is it feasable to switch to the '86> style? Now my Suburban is iffy, I wiggled the switch, and it works now, but sometimes when it's just a little warm, the glo's don't come on. sounds like the temp switch in the head?

In all cases, temp was in 40's

And then my last Sub started acting up, and I noticed the top is loose on the controller when I wiggled it, and now they're working... Thoughts???

the 85 up controller is an easy swap you need locate an ignition and run wire 12v and get the harness plug from the dealership. Locate a controller and a temp switch.

the haynes manual on the 6.2 has a schematic for the controller and harness plug, this will tell you how to run the wires..
