The fuel gauge on my K5 only goes go 3/8 when full and drops to about an 1/8 when low. Just replaced the sending unit and still not working. Thanks in advance.

Disconnect the sender wire near the tank. Ground it and watch the gauge, then remove it from ground and leave it open, check the gauge again. Believe grounded should go below empty, and open should go beyond full. Results from that test will tell us which end of the circuit the problem is.

Sending unit ground is a common issue, but since you replaced the sender, I'm assuming you made sure that connection was good.

I've seen a lot of bad connections on the back of the gauge cluster. The studs on the back of the gauges push into little metal clips. The clips are the "supposed" to make connection, to the printed circuit board. I have fixed several gauge problems, by cleaning the copper parts of the printed circuit, and soldering the clips, to the printed circuit. I use a very small soldering gun, so as not to melt the plastic of the printed circuit.
