Now that iv had my truck for almost a year, and had alot of help from you guys with it along the way:bow:, i figured it might be a good idea to throw together a build thread. probably the most important thing iv done with it so far is taking it from a non running truck to one that is at least reliable on the road:burnout: but a quick list of bullet points would include
Change intake and carb
Fix p.o. electrice fuel pump issue by replacing with mechanical, only to add electric back inline to prevent vapor lock
Install b&m floor shifter
Lots of body work and paint, replace passenger fender
Install new to me rear bench seat and dash pad
New radio and added cb radio
Replaced ignition switch twice
Redid the exauhst twice
Lots of electircal problems with more to go
Im sure i am forgetting some but thats all i can pull from the top of my head. like i said the trucks very reliable on the road now but still lots of work to get it off road worthy hah. ill be posting pictures soon enough as well as a list of mods i plan to be doing soon or in the future

Forgot to mention i did have to put on a new t case and extend the drive shaft in the rear as well as my old t case blew up on me :doah:so here wo go with the pics to start we have a pic of when i first got her home

also started body work by this point
Next to my cousins jeep, hes a ford/jeep guy you can imagin how much fun it is to call him to use his fancy snap on tools that i cant afford to fix something on my truck:surepal:

Finally got it primed for paint, p.o. had it spray painted black and the hood was green, under the spray paint was the rest of the black paint with the original color underneath that

Stayed late at work to throw the primer down and brought it home and went to sleep wake up to find out my neighbor left his van in gear in his drive way and it rolled out and hit my truck

Just to add to this a little more for any interested. somethings i plan/would like to do to my truck would include

Diy4x dash with new autometer guages specificaly have been looking at the old tyme black series but have yet to settle on them, and that would give me the perfect chance to go threw all the wiring under the dash as it is an apsolute wreck. One of the bigest difficultys with this truck is the electrical, as i have never been very good at it. The one time i took it seriously off road to go play in mud i made it threw one hole and lost power to the entire truck, ended up being my ground cable shorted out internaly or something weird like that. Any who along with the dash and electrical id like to do a diy4x cage and build a soft top to replace the factory hard top and make things a bit easier in that regard. id love to find a passenger drop np241 case at the local yard as well to replace my current np208.

Iv been contemplating adding an msd 6al ignition box as iv heard that they work well with carbed vehicles and allow you to run it leaner which would be nice. also interested in doing cross over stearing and maybe a high stear set up.

Something else i have been thinking about is a dual battery set up along with a higher output alternator, but like i said the electrical and i dont usually get along and a dual battery instal seems daunting hah. i plan on replacing the light bar that was on the truck in earlier pictures with an updated led bar (thinking about putting it under the grill rather then up top. along with two spot lights in the front and two in the rear plus other accesssories so figured it might come in handy.
Would love to make some bumpers for it as well. as they say so many ideas so little time and most importently $

Most all of this stuff is pretty doable, including dual batteries. Just takes time and cash.

Why do you need dual batteries?

Would like to have them for the accesories i plan to run, such as off road lights and maybe an on board compressor and such, have accesories running off one and one for start up. Iv been told painless wiring makes a kit for it but havnt read up much of what it entails or how it all gets wiried in

Was just curious. A good alternator shouod go a long way.

The only time I needed dual batteries was either on diesels or real hard winching

Just out of curiosity what size alternator would you suggest? That may be the way to go then based on budget and simplicity

These guys have been using a 140A.
I'm behind the curve, mine needs replaced
