I need to replace the gasket on my kick panel vents on my 84 I'm getting some water in the cab, do I just need the gasket for the vent or does the kick panel need a new seal as well?

That water might be coming from the hood hinge area. I think the vent gasket is only intended to seal air flow. there was a thread here iirc @anwat had some water intrusion issues

I have a brand new windshield gasket I just installed also. where would water besides that come in from?

That be a hard path for water to follow. It drains into the cowl and follows the steep slope to the cowl drain at the rocker. The vent is pretty high up from where water would normally flow.

where are you seeing wetness ? could be a number of things, kick panel vents would be my least suspect. Do inspect the drains at the bottom of the fenders,
1 area I suspect one my truck is the hvac housing at firewall. Mine has been removed at least once and 1 or 2 of the screws don't hold well. Water can sit on top of it and seep into the cab.

With the old windshield gasket, it was water everywhere inside the cab coming down the firewall, we are now just only getting some coming through the passenger vent, no rust, the front clip was just reinstalled. I plan to backfill the windshield gasket with some urathane. The heater core housing was sealed with butyl. I have a feeling its the windshield gasket leaking some still.

You probably already know this, but I would say to be careful about squirting sealer in behind the gasket. I have found a couple of trucks that someone did that, and it ended up holding moisture at the bottom, then rusting. Basically because the bottom couldn't drain what water got in.

i had a truck the seam sealer dried out on up in the wiper cowl area and it was letting water sit up there and drip down threw the layers of the fire wall and in the cab area .

i pulled the cowl screen and looked inside and could see a crack almost as big as the grand canyon . i wire brushed it all out / cleaned it good / put on some rubber gloves and re did the seam sealer from left to right across the whole thing . i had no more water leaks inside the cab after this .

and them drain ports can get clogged up as there not that big . so i would start up there and clean and inspect it all . heck the newest square was 1991 so the seam sealer is 30 years old at the newest point now and almost 50 years old at the oldest point .

We will stop past the bottom corner, but excellent advice.

Yeah if front clip was off, chances the drains at bottom of fender being plugged are minimal.

Funny story, my truck leaked into the cab from the factory, my old man took it in under warranty and the dealer didn't believe him, they put it out back with a sprinkler on it and confirmed the leak as the windshield gasket and changed it out.
Well, it still leaks now, and is the reason I have a no floor covering!!

I still haven't been able to fix my leak, but on mine it's definitely coming in through the hood hinge opening. It's not coming out the vent, but it's dripping from that opening down onto the floor near the vent. I'm missing the rubber gaskets or whatever they are that go around the hood hinge, which I'm sure is part of my problem. With the hood open and if I put my head on the floor by that vent and look up, I can see daylight up where that hinge opening is. Thanks for reminding me...I should probably see what I can do about that before it starts raining again....

I backfilled my windshield gasket and we have some rain coming this weekend ill look for more leaks. I ordered the vent gaskets anyways. both fender drains are clear and drain.

Is the water coming out of the vent, or is it coming from around the outside of the vent? If it's inside, shouldn't be too hard to figure out how it's getting in there. Leaking around the outside, you've got a headache. You put in a late night last night!

Maybe get a nice cigar, blow smoke up that vent and see where it leaks out.
