1985 Chevy M1009 (CK5 build thread part 2)

Yes, I can see that. I much rather waste some bushings than damage the frame more. I'm contemplating on how to fix it, either with a visit to my local frame shop or rig up something with a porta-power. Or just ignore it and not worry about it.
Harbor Freight has the 10-ton porta power on sale through today for $100 off.

I would make some c-channel extensions that maybe bolt to the outside of the frame with the fush bolts and extend straight down like a foot to clear everything then put a porta-power in between and spread outward. Should twist the rails pretty easy I bet.

That sounds like a good way to get it done. I don't think it will take much. Damn spaghetti frames!

The thing is you need to straighten each side separately and make it vertical or you end up bending the softer side more.
Push from the most stable location on the frame and pushing on the bottom of the frame to get it straight. Then maybe reinforce it in that position

Tailgate support cables and accessories:

When I would close my tailgate, the support cables would pop out between the gate and tail lights. It was kinda annoying to tuck them in every time I closed it.

And this led to the cables getting all chewed up:

The culprits to this problem were a missing cable retainer on the drivers side, and a broke cable support spring on the passenger side.
So, I ordered the new cables from LMC, found a used set of cable retainers on eBay, and sourced a set of used springs from New Boyz Squarebody Rescue.
Fun fact, there is a different spring design on '81 and up Blazers.
I painted the retainers and springs 383 Green of course, and put it all back together.

Everything works great now!

Although my assistant looks unimpressed:
