It is time to cut back on the projects, and I've decided that the army truck needs to go. There are ~1400 posts in the build thread if you want to see how things were done (link). Short summary below.

---
For sale: 1986 Chevrolet M1009 (K5 Military Blazer)

6.2L diesel engine
NV4500 5-speed manual transmission
NP208 transfer case
3.73 axle gears
GM 3/4-ton 10-bolt front axle with Eaton Posi.
GM 1-ton 14-bolt full floating rear axle.
Previous owners claimed to have completely rebuilt both axles.

5-speed NV4500 manual transmission swap completed in 2016. At that time I also installed:

* All new clutch hydraulics.
* Manual steering column.
* All new shocks.
* New glow plugs, rewired to run off of 12V instead of 24V (24V system is otherwise stock).

I have been daily driving it since then. I have recently reworked the engine:
* New engine mounts.
* New timing chain & gears.
* New water pump.
* New crank seals front & rear.
* New injectors.
* New gaskets & belts.
* New fuel filter assembly and hoses.
* New stainless steel mufflers.

Other mods include:
* New starter (24V MT28 upgrade)
* Manual glow plug button (previous owner).
* Electric fuel lift pump.
* Dual voltmeter (independently measures 12V and 24V systems).
* Temperature gauge.
* Tires are 245/75R16 on newer 8-lug rims. 75% tread.
* Driver seat & front seat belts taken from a newer truck. I'll include the matching passenger seat (split bench) if desired.
* Rear has been converted to use a standard liftgate and pickup truck tailgate.
* Bluetooth/USB/AUX/FM stereo.
* Adjustable proportioning valve to set the ratio between front and rear brakes.

The truck is eligible for Military Vehicle plates, but has a clear (civilian) title in my name. Military equipment includes bumpers, blackout lights, rifle holders, and miscellaneous bracketry.

$4900 OBO.

It "sold" on ebay, but the bidder never paid. So it's still in my driveway. I'll be replacing the rusty mufflers and putting insulation & vinyl on the floor. Should be funner to drive that way (quieter).

I know that 5 grand won't buy a driving M1009 in some regions, but Wisconsin is clearly not one of them.

:popcorn:

Did this ever sell?

Nope. After the Ebay bidder flaked I decided to wait a bit before listing it again. It's on daily driver duty, and it's going camping this coming weekend. It'll get listed again within a few weeks.

Since the last post it now has floor insulation & vinyl, rear speakers, new stainless mufflers, and a new antenna for the FM radio (the old one snapped off).

Do you wanna buy it?

No but it is tempting, that price is hard to beat. I just put 5 new tires on the Suburban so I can't sell it until they are shot! I am going back to the 700r4 on mine so the nv4500 conversion minus the trans will be coming out, as you know you never get out of them what you put into it.

It's about impossible to find parts around my new area, so there won't be a whole lot of new going on for me. I'm just looking for the stuff I have posted in the wanted section to make the Suburban more reliable.
