You can find all the factory wiring diagrams by following the link in my signature.

KennyW,

Any chance you could pull out the cluster wiring diagram for the 86 blazer. I was looking in your signature and could not locate it.

I also wanted to add a question, hopefully this is the correct place. I'm finishing up putting in and LS and I have a vacuum line coming out of the firewall that I believe runs my heater controls. Im not certain where to run that line to. I have vacuum port coming off of my intake on the back that I could reduce to. Would that work?

Get a test light and check the wires anyway. I was not able to get the dakota fuel gauge to work with the factory sender wire. I had to run a new pair to the sender like in the dakota instructions.

I also had problems with the charging system after removing the cluster. The ALT charging light is important to making the alternator charge properly.. 1991 Blazer.

I don't see anywhere that shows which wire in the factory cluster is the 4X4 indicator that would show up when I have it in 4X4.

Test light should figure out the 4wd indicator wire.

4x4 indicator is not in the main connector. It is a socket with its own harness. And I do not have a special source for diagrams, I just downloaded them from another forum and uploaded them here for our benefit. If we find more to add, we just need to coordinate with @CK5 to add them.

yes it is not in the printed circuit plug only took a minute to find in @HankScorpio link above. So I screen shotted it for youScreenshot 2024-02-03 at 14-04-01 ST_352_86_1986_Chevrolet_GMC_Light_Truc_Wiring_Manual_CK_10_...png

I don't have AC, but I'd be surprised if GM didn't use the vacuum reservoir to supply vacuum to the AC blend system. They for sure did cruise control.

I've got cruise on mine, plumbed directly into the intake, and while it works "fine", it does tend to be a lot more on and off the throttle than it should be. I expect this is due to the constantly changing vacuum in the intake. I would think similar would occur with the AC blend under the proper conditions and no vacuum reservoir.

One of these days I'll install the vacuum reservoir I have and see if that fixes my cruise "issue".
