Hello All,

Gonna start a build thread for my 1986 K5 Blazer. It is a recent purchase, so photos are few atm, but ideas for modifications are a growing list by the minute. The more I search other user builds and photos, the longer that list gets.

What I have:

1986 K5 Blazer - Silverado
5.0L V8 305 Auto
4X4
Apple Red/Frost White Two tone
AC
Cruise
150k miles

What I would like to do:

Update the suspension, wheels and tires.

I have seen a few builds on this site that have the stance I find pleasing, most are in that 2.5-3" lift with 33 inch tires, I would prefer to update the rally wheels as well.

Interior update - Ron Burgandy Red Velvet has its charm, but I don't have the desire to grow a fantastic mustache and read leather bound books.

At some point, if I do dive into the interior makeover, I would consider updating the back bench seat, I really like the idea of the Burb swap I have seen on a few threads in the forums.

Anyhow, I look forward to joining the community here and updating this thread in the future.

first on your list should be to remove the running boards and run over them with a steamroller... :deal:

I could not agree more!!!! The previous owner kept it in factory original condition.

Edit: Actually he did have the roof rack and rear deflector installed at the dealership.

Remove the running boards. Don't change ANYTHING else.

If it was my truck, I think I wouldn't touch anything. Even the running boards. It's in really nice shape. Definitely would not tear out a perfect interior just to change the color. :dunno:

Again, welcome to CK5! :waytogo:

I understand starting with a clean rig to build a truck, but this isn't clean, this is a survivor.

Step away from this site sir, we fix existing problems and cannot stop. Nothing the engineers at g.m. did was good enough, ever! :doah: Nice K5!

Hey everyone. Working this week on some updates for the mojo mobile. Modest lift from a rearching of leaf springs, just to add some room and putting 33's on. I have heard bfg has a new style AT tire, might check that out. What I am wondering is how much change should I expect in performance, replacing the stock tires with a larger tire. I have read a bit about other users changing the gear ratio, but it usually involves a larger motor and larger tires.

What gears do you currently have?

That is the FIRST thing you need to know.

Martin
