First real build here. Started with a 1974/84 k5 on 37's. Sold that and got a 1983 stock Toyota and threw it on 33's with no lift, wheeled that for a bit then got an explorer, which was a huge mistake. Then stumbled on this beast. Completely stock M1008 with 64000 miles on it. I'm building this as rig to drive to the trails, wheel for the weekend, then cruise home. So here goes.
Day or two after I got it home. Crusing the free way with those 4.56's and stock tires was a slow loud ride.

After thinking about tire selection I decided on 37" hummer take off's so I needed wheels, picked these up locally for 120 bucks. Tires were 36" irocs that were shot, but I decided to throw em on for shiggles.

Buddy and I took his burb up north to pick up some tires. Ended up with 5 for $800. Got em mounted and balanced.

Ordered the lift threw my buddies down at Pacific Fabrication in Gilroy, CA. Its a 4" BDS kit.

Threw the lift on over a weekend.

Didn't want to run a rear block so I ordered up a shackle flip from DIY4X

Then crossover steering from fourwheelsupply.net

Clearance issues much?

And a steering box brace from ORD

So after all this I have a high clearance cross member from ORD as well as their brake lines to go on then Ike will be done for a bit hopefully.....(but is it ever really done)

As a side note, whilst doing all the important stuff, I also tinkered with the interior a bit.
I added some cheap/free racing seats

And added a radio.

That looks like a real clean cucv :thumb:

Any thoughts about some rock rails to keep it that way and protect that fuel tank?

Finally got to take the rig out to Hollister Hill's and do a shake down. Worked pretty damn good for having the stock rear leaf pack's.

Nice!!!

I like what I am seeing here:waytogo:
I want to do one eventually too. Nice build, keep it coming!:thumb:

Nice CUCV!

Looks like a very solid truck!

Is the big (widow maker) hill at Hollister Hills still a challenge?

I miss Hollister! Born and raised there.

Oh the hill climb is still nasty as ever. I hate hill climbs so I haven't tried it in this rig. I need some more power first.

Thought I'd post some pics from last weekend. Guy in the 4runner decided to roll about 6 inches from my parked truck. His tire kissed my fender.

Truck looks like mine, right down to the same dent in the box side. Mine was self-inflicted, though, on this ledge.:D

Cucv's

I just really like these CUCV's in general. I am jelly like a doughnut for you guys and your rigs:bow:
