Hey all,

I'm trying to find the Federal Safety Label on my 1986 Suburban that I bought at auction. I thought they were on the driver's door, but I'm not seeing it. I'll attach the pictures I have of the driver's door. There are a couple of stickers there but I'm not seeing the right one. Anyone else know where to look? Or what can I do if I can't find it?

I bought the vehicle from an out of state auction online, and when the vehicle was shipped to me, the company didn't send a title. I originally didn't care because I was planning on using it for parts, but it seems a solid enough that now I want to go ahead and title it instead of picking it apart. I'm applying for a bonded title and the DMV is requiring I take photos of the VIN *and* the "manufacturer's label that certifies the vehicle meets federal motor vehicle safety standards."

It seems a little silly to me... But... yeah, the VIN isn't good enough... the DMV wants to see that sticker, too.

They really expect that sticker to be there after 30+ yrs? :haha:
Tell them it fell off or the door was replaced.

I don't know.... like I said it seems silly to me.... If you have the VIN number don't you know exactly what the vehicle is? Was General Motors making a bunch of Suburbans in 1986 that *didn't* comply with federal standards?

Maybe get a picture of someone else's tag? *with the same color/year truck?

My dad has a blue '86 if yours happens to be blue haha.

Hah... thanks, mine is red. I think the VIN might also be printed out on that label somewhere. I've tried to Google what the label is supposed to look like, but I'm only getting results for newer vehicles.

Nothing a little photoshop can’t cure ... strictly for entertainment purposes only.

Well... does anyone have a correct safety label from that year so I know what it's even supposed to look like?

Thanks!
