Just bought a 1987 Blazer, The po said the rear window worked (key word:WORKED) fine a "few days ago" but nothing right now. When I put the key in the rear lock to get in down, the window does not go down BUT the interior lights do dim. Upon closer inspection, I see that there are some tie down straps that are stuck between the fram and the tailgate.

Searching previous posts, i read something about a safety switch.

Might it be activated (or not activated) thus limiting the window to be rolled down?

There is a panel that I could get to.

What are some steps to take to get this thing down?

I tried pushing/pulling on the tailgate while turning the key--- Nope

I tried the dash switch--- Nope

Im thinking that the window might be stuck because it wasnt rolled down for so long, it might be to my advantage to spray some wd4o or the like around the glass and then try it.

Any ideas?

Yoyr feedback is appreciated!

IIRC the safety switch allows the window to still go down just not back up, but I have not messed with mine for a while.

Inside the access panel I believe there is a way to manually lower it but not 100% sure on that.

Yes on both counts. Safety switch on the drivers side latch (in the tailgate) that you can jumper IF the window will move freely otherwise.

You can disconnect the cable from the motor and chuck it in a drill (or just use vise grips) to spin it to see if it will move easily.

I'd SUSPECT that if the lights dim, it's not the safety switch, as the lights dimming is indicating an electrical load, which I'd say means the motor is trying to roll the window up, but can't due to something making the window hard to move.
