I am sure this is a question that has been asked many times, but I Have been searching for the answer and figured I would ask you guys. I am new to posting in this forum, yet I have been looking for years. Here is the question:
I have a 1987 silverado with the stock TBI on an older replacement crate engine. I am not sure the specs on the current engine, yet I do know it sat for a while and now the block is cracked..(failed freeze plug). I am looking to buy a crate engine around 350 hp and 380 ft/lbs tq. I need to know if i go this route and keep the TBI will i need to re chip the computer? If i go with Vortec heads and loose the EGR will this mess up the TBI components? Is there anyone that has gone this route with a similar build with advice? The truck has a 4inch lift,35's,12bolt rear with 3.73 gears,700r4 and will be a trail rig/daily driver/light tow vehicle..Sorry if i left any key info out or if this has been answered a million times..(I couldn't find a similar thread)..Thanks!
