CA 1988 Crew Cab - be ready for your jaw to drop

I've seen those pics before but it's been a while (years), seems like that truck has been on eBay before. I guess the word "restoration" (vs build) means you can charge more. I always thought a restoration meant taking a vehicle back to original condition? Lift and tires aside it's got parts that weren't available in '88. Regardless, it's gorgeous.

It is satisfying to see one that is done well. That doesn't mean I would want to pay for it. But then again, that is what new trucks are going for, if not more. And which would you rather have?

I'm looking at every bit of 50 grand building my crew cab into that condition. Not a bad deal at 75k for a pro restoration.

...And which would you rather have?

VERY tough question. Years ago I had a pretty nice 91 3+3 that I sold (for a fraction of the eBay truck price) to buy a new Dodge diesel. I've been very happy with the Dodge but now I miss the Chevy, I wish I could have been able to have both at the same time. Ultimately, the eBay truck, while comparable in price, is different from a new truck. Even at similar prices the eBay truck would probably fall in to a category of too nice to use so it will almost certainly not end up as someones daily driver in the rain or snow etc with kids french fries between the seat cushions.

The good and bad part all in one is the fact that the old saying "this truck is worth more in parts than complete" is no longer true. That is an amazing crew cab but definitely a "show truck" that I personally wouldn't daily or family for that matter.

^^^ umm WOW nice truck... BUT I couldn't spend that kinda cash on a "stock" truck..

id rather drop a fresh worked 8.1L/zf-6/np205 - mog 416 axles as a start!!!!!

According to a March 2017 NBC news story the most purchased vehicles for people with over $200,000 is....a Ford F150.
They had indicated that people are BEGGING for $100,000 pick em up trucks, which is why Mercedes is now going to offer a pickup truck. If this guy goes back and adds an xbox and DVD players to the back of all the seats, seat warmers and coolers, etc etc...he can would likely get over $100,000 for it....lol

Sad but true

This guys does a few of these a year. He’s a Chevy dealer. They are all remarkable,e trucks, but this one is by far the most expensive one I’ve seen.

Car collectors shy away from highly restored 4X4 square bodies because they are difficult to insure with classic vehicle specialty insurance companies. I recognize that truck. it has been around for a while.
