Gauging interest in my 1988 GMC V3500 with less than 53,000 original miles. This truck started life as a “Forcible-Entry Fire Rescue Truck” that lived at a Marine base in South Carolina. I removed the box that it had, and replaced it with a dually bed. I also swapped the original cab/chassis 14-bolt for a completely overhauled Dana 70 HD with a new Lockright. The truck has air conditioning, although it needs recharging.
  • Carbureted 454 (yes, most were fuel injected in ’88, but a small percentage were carbureted)
  • Turbo 400
  • Round pattern 205 transfer case
  • Rebuilt front and rear driveshafts
  • 6 new Toyo Open Country AT tires (less than 25 miles on them)
  • New Monroe gas shocks and steering stabilizer
  • New tie rod ends on front axle
  • Completely rebuilt Dana 70 HD, with new bearings, seals, brakes, NOS 4.56 gear set and a new Lockright
  • Dana 60 front w/ 4.56 gears (open)
  • New rear sway bar bushings
  • Engine has been recently tuned . . . new plugs and wires and runs VERY well!
  • New AutoZone Gold series battery with warranty
  • Battery disconnect in cab
  • New gooseneck hitch
  • Georgia title
Known problems – truck has a few surface rust areas and obviously needs to be repainted. There are two small dents in the rear cab corner, and both front doors have some issues . . . although I will supply two good doors from a CUCV. Generally, the truck needs some love on the exterior, but could definitely be worked into a very nice truck. The factory tach does not work (probably a wiring issue).

I absolutely LOVE this truck and do not want to sell it . . . I had big plans for it. But circumstances (my family needs a second vehicle that the wife can/wants to drive) are forcing me to sell. Asking $5,300 or best offer. If you have questions, feel free to email or call me at 770-355-0009. Located in NE Atlanta. Can send more pictures upon request

Nice. Very nice. Wanna sell me the rear sway bar stuff?

Will consider trading for an unmolested Jeep Wrangler (fuel injected YJ or a TJ).

You're just mad cause you sold yours. Lusting after mine isn't going to bring it back!

BTW, I've applied for a Georgia title and should have it in hand in about two weeks.

If I removed the light bar from the top what kind of patch job would it need? Also, any idea if that pintle hitch/ rear bumper combo could pull some weight, 12k-ish?

Looks like there's four 1/4 bolts that hold the light bar plus a larger hole for the wiring. Shouldn't be that hard to patch.

I attached the bumper with 1/4" plate, so I don't think I'd trust it to haul 12k. You could always beef it up though. For what it's worth, it does have a gooseneck hitch in the bed that I recently installed.

But my trailer is pintle/ bumper pull.

Now listed on ebay with no reserve for $3,999! Search for GMV V3500 and you'll find it . . .

Any chance of a pic of the back seat and some pics of the frame, front end, tranny, and t-case? Thanks!

Also, how driveable is the truck? Would it do the drive from GA to Charlotte, NC? Any tranny or t-case issues? Thanks!

Here's the back seat, T-Case and front axle . . .

I've never had it out on a long trip, but I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't do just fine. It's never given me any problems around town.
