1988 K5 8" Lift, 36" Swampers, 4:56, Detroit-$5,500

Re: Price Reduced*1988 K5 8\" Lift, 36\" Swampers, 4:56, Detroit/Lockrite $1 OBO!

Thanks man, I appreciate that. I lowered the price to 6700 in the local paper. I've had 3 calls since the price change yesterday. One guy offered me 5500, the other guy said he'd call back, the other guy offered to trade a 1976 Red Corvette Stingray, 400 small block, 200 miles on rebuilt engine. I'm giving the blazer another week to sell, if not, I'm going next friday to look at the vette. I'm bringing my brother in law with me, he knows all about that stuff. So without knowing too much about the vette, does it seem like a decent trade? Considering I'd like to get $6000 out of the blazer? I'm just gonna put the vette up for sale if I do the trade anyway, but I'll have a fun toy to play with while its in the paper /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Any opinions on if i should do the trade? thanks

maybe if it:
was 1 ton,
had primo interior for family rig
had primo paint
had a winch bumper
had at least one winch
had some body armor
had beadlocks
had tint
had a doubler
had SOFTER SPRINGS (not superlift)
had lights
had th400
had 205

didnt have:
yellow seats covers
yellow floor mats
700r4
208
144,000 miles
Front axle: dana 44
Rear axle: GM 12 Bolt
rear wheel spacers (((get those out, 12 bolts is weak enough, yer gonna snap an axle on da freeway)))
and again, those stiff ass springs.

hope this helps, not pikkin on ya, but i know what they go for and this is a list of stuff that targets you to a teenager audience. and also put you in the 3000.00 range, good luck, its tough out there. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif

Re: Price Reduced*1988 K5 8\" Lift, 36\" Swampers, 4:56, Detroit/Lockrite $1 OBO!

Thanks Ugly, I appreciate your analysis. So basically, I should invest another $6,000 to get all the work done to get my rig up to your standards, bringing my total investment almost to $15,000, then I may be able to get the $6,000 that I want? Hmmm...I'm not a math major, but I don't really see where I win there? I'm just messing with you, but I do have to STRONGLY disagree with your estimated market value of my truck to be $3,000. (Kbb value is 2500,Nada is 4400, that is without the approx. $6K aftermarket on it)Considering that anyone could probably buy a real piece of junk blazer for $2K-3K, and then have to put a lot of work into it to get it up to where mine is at. Sure, I haven't sold it yet, and I know I won't get the 7300 I originally wanted. But I have had a few calls, with cash offers of $5,000-$5500. And the couple offers I did get were coming from people that seemed to know what they were talking about, they asked questions that I couldn't answer, and they just seemed to know a whole lot about blazers and stuff. They weren't teenagers. Once guy called yesterday and offered me 5, but I'm just not ready to go below 6K yet. SUre, in a month or two if I still have it I might, but it's only been for sale less than a month, and I'm in no hurry to have the money. Basically, I paid off the original loan a year ago, and whatever I make from the sale is "found money" for me, so it's not like I'm in a hurry. But, I will need some money by August (for college tuition), so 5K will make me happy 4 months from now! And as far as soft springs (to flex and look cool on ramps), 1 ton axles, and all that other stuff, not everyone is that specific with their blazers. Sure, a lot of guys in here are, because they do that stuff, but some people might appreciate a blazer that looks great, is in great condition, and runs like a sunofabyzth!!!

its a sweet ass truck but i dont think ull get 6 for it, thats the one down side to this hobby, u never get any wear close usually, to what u put into your rig when u go to sell it /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

Summer is coming guys...I know there is someone out there that wants a really awesome toy! You have to see this truck, and drive it, and feel the power before you say you don't want it...trust me, if you drive it, you're addicted /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Price Reduced*1988 K5 8\" Lift, 36\" Swampers, 4:56, Detroit/Lockrite $1

Don't get too upset over what Ugly said, many of his points are valid like it or not /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

If someone is offering you $5000-5500 for it cash, that sounds pretty fair to me. Your 1/2 ton axles are the weakest link that I see and no matter what you do to them or how much money you have into them they just don't appeal to very many people.

Also keep in mind that the people here are mostly wrenchers and DIY'ers, so that makes a difference. In my area I have seen "junker" blazers for sale for $500-1000 that have 205's and 4 spds, lifts and a few doo-dads. Modified Blazers with 3/4 ton drivetrains and many upgrades for $1500-3000, and 1 ton Blazers $4500+.

But I feel your pain because I am trying to sell my own Blazer and its tough, just have to find that right person /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Good luck, nobody is coming off their money right now. It's a hard sell for anything. Oh, the wheels are 15x10's

Reality check #2

Nobody wins when they sell a truck that they poured their blood, sweat, and tears into, period. You don't have to be a mathmatician to figure out that you're gonna lose your ass big time if you build a rig and then decide you don't want it.

No matter what you spent or will spend on your Blazer, nobody, not even those of us who understand how much work it is to build such a machine, are willing to spend that kind of cash to buy a vehicle that someone else built.

From the looks of your rig, I would have taken the $5500 and ran with it. I would say that is an absolutely amazing amount of money to get for a 1/2 ton Blazer with a gear swap and some lockers and tires.

Don't feel bad. My rig is 1 ton, locked, has crossover, long travel suspension, a 4 speed with a hydro clutch, etc., and I'd bet I couldn't even get 4 grand for it if I tried. Nobody will ever appreciate the work you pour into your built trail machine, and while unfortunate, it is a reality that any automobile is generally a poor investment of money.

Sorry to break the bad news though. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Not all of us /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif But I still owe about $4k on my Exploder before I can run out buying an older vehicle to play around with /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

Re: Price Reduced*1988 K5 8\" Lift, 36\" Swampers, 4:56, Detroit/Lockrite $1 OBO!

people wont pay for monstertrucks less they are ifs and on dubs

you destroy the ride quality, milage, performance, ect....its like getting a regular car, but worse

youd have better luck taking all that stuff off the truck to make it stock, fix all the rust, paint it, make it stock, then sell the truck like that for 3-4-5k and then selling the aftermarket stuff seperately

Re: Price Reduced*1988 K5 8\" Lift, 36\" Swampers, 4:56, Detroit/Lockrite $1 OBO!

Yeah, it's a lose lose situation I guess. When I first advertised it, I wasn't really in a hurry to sell it, that's why I wasn't willing to budge. But yeah, you are right, next time someone offers me 5500 I'm gonna take it and run. Tuition is coming up for Fall semester, so I guess I kinda need the money now /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif And you guys are right about CK5, most people on here are mechanically inclinded, unlike me, so they can do that stuff at half the cost. I still think it will do better locally, than on here, but I figure I pay membership, so it's another outlet to advertise it. And oh yeah, the wheels are 15X10 (thanks Glenn..haha)
