I live in Phoenix, Az, so we do have emissions reg(s) here. I have a TBI with a stroker motor installed. Am wanting to install some headers, new exhaust and a new CAT. Haven't clue what to look for. Sure would hate to buy something from a on-line supplier only to find out that it doesn't fit properly. I have no problem welding or brazing anything myself, or even a bolt-up. Any suggestions and/or someone locally that may do the install at a reasonable cost. Again, I don't mind doing the work myself, just concerned about the fit and what to purchase.

Cheers,

it will say if it's your state apporoved or not
or just look for something 50 state approved
if it's good enough for CA, it's good enough for jesus himself :)

I got mine from Summit, the cheap $100 dollar ones, on my 87 Suburban.
They fit great on the passenger side.

The drivers side was sitting on the oil filter, due to the truck having an oil cooler, making the filter like 3" lower than 'normal' I ended up installing a oil filter relocation kit, solved the problem.

As far as emissions go, I think the biggest thing to worry about is whether you have AIR or not. Some headers(lots more $) have the provision for your orig factory check valves, etc. the ones I got do not, I am planning on plumbing the AIR pump to the reducer when that time of year comes around. If I remember in phoenix, you have a similar state program as colorado, If your vin specs an AIR pump / system they will do a physical check for it, if youre not in compliance they wont even sniff it.

From summit I got the hedman 68830 headers.dont quote me on the part number but they were inbetween the full lenght and shorties and they fit great would recommend them to anyone. Then I got the exhaust self build piping kit.there high flow cats and flowmaster 50 series mufflers.worked great to keep the exhaust up high had a nice mild but aggressive sound. Takes some fabbing but if u got a welder and a chop saw it went together nicely.not sure about emmissions but if I had to guess id say it would pass. I just buy stickers
