Hey brothers, just helping out a friend whos looking into a 1988 3/4 4x4 burban. what should this truck have stock for axles and tranny? The ad says its got a 350 and thats about it so any ideas on the axles and tranny?

Should be an 8-lug 10-bolt up front, a 14bsf out back and a 700r4 tranny.

nice i think hes buying it today so hell be happy about the 700r4 for the od and waht kinda gears u think it might have? oh did i mention its only $2000 and its got remote cd ac power trailer brakes all the goods

Gear ratio is anyone's guess. Could be virtually anything from 2.73 to 4.56. Best bet is to check in the glove box. There should be a sticker that will either give the RPO code or will actually give you the ratio.

Also remember that these are just "best guesses". It could have been differently equipped from the factory or parts could have been swapped out in the past 20 years.

Actually, if it's a 3/4 ton the tranny should be a TH400, not a 700R4, assuming it hasn't been changed. Gear ratio is a guess at this point but I'd say either 3.73 or 4.10s, especially if it was set up for towing.

3/4 ton burbs came with either a 700r4 or 400. I have the 700r4 and yes it is an 8600 GVWR rig and is original.

yo matty its skinny..... im the one who bought the burb and I have to say it is sweeter than i could have imagined. its 3/4 ton and has a 400 tranny and rebuilt 350 in it. the whole nine passenger thing still trips me out a bit, lol. gotta love k&n, got it today and i changed plugs wires dropped the tranfer case fluid and oil and all is good;) going wheelin tommorow........whhheeeeeeee:)

so i was just wondering if a 502 long block would fit in my 1988 3/4t burb? Im looking at swapping out the engine for a high performance big block, any suggestions? Also looking at giving it a 6" suspension lift and 1" body lift with 37" tires and was just checking out brands of suspension lifts. looking at some bds now is this one of the better choices or should I go with another brand? the help is much appretiated thanks....

502 no problem, hell just about WHATEVER you want can be cramed into that thing.

my wifes 2ed cousin in SoCal has a 2wd burb with a 502, says he snapps moter mounts all the time :D
