so my ignt key was stuck in the running positon and we disconected the battery. Then my boyfriend sprayed PB blaster in around the key/then he took channel locks and forced/moved the key so it would come out/now the key is stiff like something was bent inside.the key is now in the ignt. and I am lost as what how to repair. it is a tilt column also.

so where am I on this..lost in keyland

Nice Burb!

The actuator rod that goes down from the lock cylinder down to the ignition switch can bind up especially in the tilt columns. The switch its self can also bind up. You can unbolt the switch (on top of the lower portion of the column) and see if the key frees up. If so it was the switch binding up, if not its probably the actuator rod and you will have to pull the steering wheel and lock plate to get at the top end of the rod and ignition cylinder.

when we got the burb, the tilt wheel was all the way in the lowered position, i moved it to the 2nd hightest spot, thats when the key issue started, I did put the tilt into the lowest spot and the key came out.now I moved the tilt wheel back up and the key goes in works but stiff turnning on/off and now does come out, any ideas what is up. I would like to fix correctly even if it's out of pocket funds..thanks all for your input.

Sounds like its just the actuator rod binding up in the column. You should be able to to remove the steering wheel and spray some lube on it to see if that hlps. If not youll probly have to tear the column down to see where its binding
