1989 K5 4x4 keeps stalling!!!

I have a 1989 k5 blazer that keeps stalling. It fires right up runs good I can rev up and everything but as soon I put it into gear it dies right out. I've checked the injectors, the spray pattern, i was told could be the fuel pump but before I spend $200 id like to check others things 1st there's no vacuum leaks. I drove the truck about 125 miles and then all the suddend it died I then fired it right back up but as soon as I put it in drive it clunked forward then died again. I'm stuck im not sure what it could be. Also if I start it n then floor it while i through it in gear it'll spit n sputter then take off it'll then drive regular but I cant come to a complete stop or it'll die and do the same thing all over again.
 
If it runs like that ,there has to be trouble codes stored in the computer. Is the check engine light on?
 
Check the EGR. My was doing the same thing a few weeks ago. The EGR valve was stuck open.
Too check it you should be able to move the diaphragm up from the back side. My wouldn't move at all .
 
I just pulled code on obd1 its code 13 which it said 02 sensor or circuit?

With OBD1 you don't need a code reader. All you need is something to ground the diagnostic terminal , I use a paper clip. This ALDL is located under the dash. Ican't post pictures or I'd show you. Maybe someone else on here can do a favor and post a pic of what I am talking about. Anyway, once you ground this ALDL, the check engine light will flash . You count the flashes to obtain the trouble code. example:1 flash followed by 2 is code 12 , 2 flashes followed by 1 is code 21 , ect. You can get a cheap Haynes manual at auto zone and it will show you in the emmisions control section. Very easy to do.

No, I don't believe a o2 by itself will make it stall like what you are describing.How did you check for vacuum leaks? Did you check between Throttle body/ intake?
 
Sounds like a vacuum leak to me. I had a 87 chevy tbi class C RV that did the sme thing during a long distance trip had to drive it with both feet to keep it going to the next town. Was the EGR valve all caked up.
 
Not yet ill check it all tomorrow is the a certain way to check?

Just to be contrary, I have a sneaking suspicion that everybody's suggestions are wrong. You said that it dies as soon as you put it in drive. Any chance its your transmission?
If the torque converter is coming apart, it can lock up and its the same as you letting off the clutch on a manual with your foot on the brake.
If it drives normally until you try to stop, I'm betting its the transmission.

I argued with a guy for over an hour that his transmission was in trouble one time, but he kept insisting it was the timing on his engine. Despite the fact that he had to stand on the brakes to keep the car from rolling when he had it in gear.

Finally the transmission died about two days later, and wonder of wonders, the engine stalling problem went away when he got it fixed.

If it were newer, I would suspect the torque converter lockup circuit, but I don't think they had them in '89.

Yes, it is hard to diagnose a vehicle without seeing what is going on first hand.One would think that a torque converter coming apart would make an audible noise . Although I have never heard of it happening on a chevy, I geuss it is possible. All automatic transmisions in 89(700r4) had lock up torque convertors w/ a "circuit " in the trans to control the lock up function.So , you are saying that the transmission torque convertor was seizing up internally, and this in turn was making the engine stall?
