I have a 1990 k5 blazer and for some reason the previous guy had the head lights zip-tied into place. Is there supposed to be some sort of clips or something that goes into the core sport so that you can actually screw the head light assembly in place. It almost seems like they have the wrong head-light base (part the bulb goes into) and the Bessel screws to that....

There should be a metal frame around the front of each lamp with ears for screws to hold the assembly in place. The frame is not attached to the lamp, it just fits over it and the screws hold everything in place.

Not sure on your model year, but on my 1984 K5, I was having issues with the plastic screw retainers that are mounted to the core support, esp for off roading.

Here is what I used to have.

Here is what I did, I got some floating captured nuts that had the same threads as the headlight bolts and I rivoted them to the core support. This improved it 1000%

Been like this for a couple years now.

There are 3 parts to your headlights. the headlight bucket, that is what attaches to the core support, the headlight and the headlight bezel (chrome piece) and that is what holds the headlight to the headlight bucket

if 4 headlight for the 89-91 style nose I got new units from gm last year for my 2wd build I am doing .
