I have a problem with my 1990 Suburban. After turning off truck from a drive it will start again but dies out in exactly 30 seconds. It will start again but dies out 30 seconds later. After about 2-3 hours it will start and run fine again. I have replace the ignition module and fuel filter twice with no luck. This happened a few years ago and couldnt figure it out then either. One of the CK5 members said to change the Distributor. I did and that work for about a year. Could it be the distributor again??

pull the distributor cap and check for cracks in the rotor or base, also you could be having a fuel problem, weak pump, clogged strainer, collapsed line, etc

Im probably wrong, but i thought i read one time that one part of the oil presure sending unit went to the comp and if it read no oil pressure for 30 seconds it would kill the motor. Again, im probably bat $hit crazy, but you might look into it anyway.

Thanks, I believe its something to do with the distributor but looking into the computer issue might be a different approach. I replaced the distributor with a Napa new replacement two years ago so I would hope I wouldn't have to replace it again. Thanks again

Thanks for the Tech advice. I replaced the computer and it resolved the issue. y5mgisi, Thanks for the advise, I did some further research and you hit the nail on the head. So nice to be rolling in the Burb again.

Glad to hear you got it fixed! How exactly did you determine what it was? Did it actually have to do with the oil presure sending unit? Or did the computer just not sense the oil pressure?
