I'm rebuilding the steering box on my suburban. But for some reason, the rebuild kit has the wrong sized bearing and seals for the input shaft. The ones in the kit are too small. I thought maybe it was bad kit so I checked out a different kit and it's the same as the first. I also checked out just an input shaft seal kit and it's wrong too. I looked up several input shaft seal kits for other trucks from a 81 to 92 suburban and they all use thesame input kit. Anyone got any ideas on why this is? Or hopef ully, what kit would have the right input seals? Thanks!

I ordered a kit (I also gave up because it sucks) and got the wrong seals. From what I could gather, there are 2 different boxes and the input is the difference. My new seals were way to small for the input, but everything else worked. Like I said though, I ended up tossing the entire thing and buying a new box because I kept tearing seals and it got old.

There are raised numbers and letters cast into the "barrel" of the box, that should get you what you need

For not even being 30 yet my eyes are bad. So i can't read them but the box doesnt have many casting numbers on it so your probably on the right track.

I looked up a kit for that box number and its the same kit that i alreay have! Im about to just go get a different box...

Looks like you got yours from Owenst. But there were a couple AC delco part numbers in your thread that i will investigate.

His was a Napa kit. I think I have a Napa part number in that thread too.
