Hi,
I am wanting to swap out my engine and transmission for a possible LS or newer fuel injected system. I have asked several questions and been to several local shops (Denver, CO area). I have received a ton of different opinions, and a lot of " Oh that's easy just get an LS motor" but yet have to get a solid answer. I have researched the connect and cruise option through Chevy which looked good but when I called to get answers as far as tranny bolting up to differential correctly or odometer adaptive odometer cluster options, no clue. So I was hoping to see if anyone on this forum knew of a shop anywhere in Colorado that specializes in option I am seeking. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are in Denver you'll have to keep in mind the emissions issue. You'll need to maintain the emissions system of the newer vehicle you pull the engine from for your swap. This means catalytic converters, evaporative emissions system and all the goodies. Any chevy transmission will bolt up to a LS engine. Which one you go with will dictate any needs for special parts to adapt it to the LS. If you go with a 4L60 from the truck the LS came from it will match up to the Blazer just fine. The 4L60e is just the electronically controlled version of the 700r4 trans, but will need a LS specific flexxplate.

If you do go with the 4L60e trans the 241 t-case that your Blazer should have will bolt up to it, that way your speedometer still will work. Keep the engine in the stock small block location and the transmission won't move and your drivelines will not need to be changed.

I'm not sure of a shop in the Denver area that can do it. I'm sure there is a shop that can do it, but be ready to pay out some bucks for labor. Most around here that have done the LS swap have gone the DIY route. Now that I think about it, John Elway Chevrolet on Broadway is the state's largest GM Performance Parts dealer. They sell more crate engines than anybody. You might see what they would charge out for a Connect and Cruise install with labor. Most dealers don't get into swaps (we don't for example) but they might since they sell so many crate engines.

Go take a look at my YouTube channel. Just search for Merrick's garage. I have a couple videos on LS swap basics some on tuning some on the finished project. Shoot me some questions if you want and I can see if I can help.
