My 91 jimmy column shift selector suddenly very sloppy. I adjusted the shift rod by the Trans just so I could get it into park again but certainly not fixed. Feels like something inside the column definitely needs attention. Any help please!

Is the bracket under the truck that the rod goes thorough and the spring presses against in good condition?
