I bought this Sub in Oceanside 3 weeks ago, Installed 3/4 ton rear springs, loaded it full of Corvair parts, and drove it back 4500 miles to NE Upstate New York.
I'm the 3rd owner, It has 210k, always very well maintained. I've repaired a few things to get it roadworthy, and had no problems on the long cross country trip. Fuel mileage at 80mph was 14.5. It was 13.5 in the colder east.
The left rear door was damaged b4 I bought it, and doesn't close as well as the others. EVERYTHING works, including the cruise, power locks, keys, radio. The rear windows are slow, even tho I greased them. I charged the A/C in California, and it was blowing cold. Hardly neccesary here, as it's 20f today! The heater works well.
It has a 5.7 350 CI, no smoke AT ALL, not even cold start. The inside of the valve covers is CLEAN. It used just over 1 quart on the whole trip. 700R4 shifts smoothly, lock up works correctly.
The "Service Engine Soon" lamp comes on from time to time. But b4 '96, it's a non issue. The code reads "EGR", which I noticed is disconnected and plugged.
The PO said he had a POSI put in when the diffy gave him trouble. It's quiet, no gear noise at all. New riveted rear shoes with turned drums.
It has almost new 33" x 15" Snow tires on American Racing mags.
Needless to say, this Sub has NO RUST. well, actually, a tiny bit under the right barn door from the weatherstripping rubbing the paint off.
You can buy a $1000 local truck and weld panels in, or you can buy this desert Truck, and admire the cadmium plating and black paint on the frame.
It's a FACTORY Black Sub, repainted once, and faded. I've had MANY Suburbans, but never seen a single-tone black one. Interior is grey and somewhat dirty. I left the 3rd seat behind, but shoulder belts are there, tho torn(?)
I'm asking $4000, but not in a rush to sell, so no lo-ball offers, please.
